What is too little and what is too much?

Last year my son bought me a goat - for a family in Romania. I think it was special as it made Christmas mean far more than opening something I didn't really want. What presents have made you feel good?

even if you don't know which holidays the person or people celebrate? if so, is it because you are christian and interested in "keeping the christ in christmas", or just because christmas is the holiday that you celebrate, and think "merry christmas" is a nice thing to say? i am not christian, but i do celebrate christmas, though not in a religious manner, and i think wishing people a merry christmas is a very nice thing to do. i am curious as to your thoughts on the matter. however, i am quite familiar with christian beliefs, so don't use this as an opportunity to retell the story of jesus. just answer the question. thank you....and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Personally I think the fuss over whether or not someone says Merry Christmass or Happy Holidays is silly. No one can stop you from doing Christmas how you want to do it. Who cares what someone says to you in a dept store? There is no conspiracy agaist Christmas and everyone doesn't have to celebrate Christmas the same way you do it.

also before you even say it Christmas was not always about Christ. It used to be a harvest celebration that was changed into Christmas with the rise of Christianity and the incorporation of Christian traditions. and I'm sure we all know Santa, snow. elves, trees and all that other stuff have nothing to do with Christ.

When do you put it up? Who puts it up? I'm asking because when my husband and I had our first Christmas together last year, I found myself assembling the artificial tree we bought by myself, and decorating it, and putting the lights on, and the star!!! To him, that is normal, but for me, tradition is that the dad puts the tree up and the lights on, and then we play christmas music and have hot chocolate while everyone decorates the tree, and each year someone different puts the star on top.

Mine- Christmas eve- some presents, a great dinner, get the kids worked up into a Santa frenzy and put to bed. We the adults attend midnight mass, while grandparents rest with the kids at home. After service, are in high gear elf mode! We all wake up to a family breakfast and Santa gifts and a lazy day with family. We finally get dressed and attend Christmas evening services and come home for sandwiches, soup, tamales and movies. We always have special christmas cookies for each person at the house. Its a great family tradition, what's yours?

If you are not religious, why would you celebrate a religious holiday? Is it just to get gifts? You get gifts at hannaukah (

Gifts aren't about how much they cost, but rather the thought and care put into them. Have you given or received an awesome gift that didn't break the bank?

The reasons I'm putting up the Christmas tree is beacause my mother visiting this weekend to do our girly christmas shopping, She lives in Beragh and I live in Belfast which is an 1hr and 15mins drives away. This would be her last visited as she has a big family of her own up home around xmas. Yes I have four ugly brothers. I just want to make her feel at home. So putting up the xmas tree on Friday early??
