The reasons I'm putting up the Christmas tree is beacause my mother visiting this weekend to do our girly christmas shopping, She lives in Beragh and I live in Belfast which is an 1hr and 15mins drives away. This would be her last visited as she has a big family of her own up home around xmas. Yes I have four ugly brothers. I just want to make her feel at home. So putting up the xmas tree on Friday early??

There's nothing wrong with putting up your Christmas Tree on Friday. In fact, if your Mother is visiting to do some girly shopping with you, then I would say it's just the thing to get you into the spirit of it, and a lovely thought.
I hope you have fun both with your shopping and in your Mum's company, at home. Your question made me feel all warm and fuzzy. :-)
Happy Friday and a Merry Christmas! Enjoy! :-)

December 1st is not too early. Both my wife and I come from families where the Thanksgiving holiday break (around Nov. 24th) was used to set up decorations (including the tree). It was our way of getting prepared for the Advent season. It is a tradition that we now do ourselves. The reason Dec 6 is relevant is because many places will celebrate St. Nicholas' Feast Day, in which gifts can be given or a specific day in which children are supposed to request their gift for Christmas.
Honestly, what really matters is do you think that she would enjoy seeing the tree when she visits, or would it bother her that you have your tree up then? If you think she would appreciate it, put it up.

No not at all - loads of people have already got the decs up around where I live. I'm putting mine up on Friday as well - my daughter and grandaughter are coming over On Sunday as we're going to a hospice Christmas remembrance service so I think it will be appropriate. Have a good time shopping and a happy christmas xxxxx

December the 1st is perfect, especially as your mum is visiting. Ours will be going up on Friday, as I have the day off work I am hoping to get all the decorations up whilst our 5 year old daughter is a school so it will be a surprise when she comes home.
