even if you don't know which holidays the person or people celebrate? if so, is it because you are christian and interested in "keeping the christ in christmas", or just because christmas is the holiday that you celebrate, and think "merry christmas" is a nice thing to say? i am not christian, but i do celebrate christmas, though not in a religious manner, and i think wishing people a merry christmas is a very nice thing to do. i am curious as to your thoughts on the matter. however, i am quite familiar with christian beliefs, so don't use this as an opportunity to retell the story of jesus. just answer the question. thank you....and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

i say merry christmas. we're not religious people, so we celebrate it as a family holiday. we get together with all of our family members to eat and exchange gifts, and we do santa for the kids. i can understand the whole pc happy holidays thing, but i don't think people of other belief systems should be offended if someone tells them merry christmas, they're just trying to be nice.

I say "merry Christmas." I guess I just assume everyone around me celebrates Christmas because most people do. And I figure if they don't, they hear it all the time, and they know I mean well. It's a nice thing to say.

I say Happy Christmas, and it's not because of keeping Christ in the day. It's just what I say. I guess if I was PC I'd say Happy Holidays so not to offend anyone, which I don't mean to. But, I always say Happy Christmas. I just like the sound of it.

I say Merry Christmas to ppl who are known Christians and ppl who celebrate Christmas. OK, even if I don't bring up that Jesus man, His name is still in Christmas (Christ's mass). Maybe we should all just say Merry Holidays. hehe In Pittsburgh, I have heard that ppl say "Happy Sparkle Season."

As a rule, I stick with Happy Holidays. I live in a community with a large Jewish community, and I don't want to make assumptions. The only time I specify a holiday is when I'm responding to someone. Then I'll use whatever holiday they mention. None of it bothers me, though. I just use it as a big excuse to pass presents around, so whatever you want to call it is fine with me.
