Social Assistance is not compassionate when it comes to Christmas. How do I put together Christmas gifts for my 8 yr old? I really need help this year.

My fiance and I are expecting our first baby and as we have large families we have to really cut back on the amount we spend on Christmas gifts. My brother and his wife have a baby daughter who we will buy for as normal but do you think its bad if we don't spend as much on others? We are really working hard to save for the baby's arrival and we just dont have the spare cash to spend on gifts. We were thinking about spending £10 - 15 on each person, does this sound really mean?

iv just ordered my first ever turkey for christmas and it costs £33, i never knew a bird was so expansive. i now no why my mum always wanted christmas cancelled now. how much are you spending on your turkey

I haven't...yet...Next week I'm going to start, I've got 3 kids to buy for (of my own) plus 8 neices and nephews on my hubby's side, and 14 on my side (my sister had a little girl yesterday, making it her 5th!).
That's not including pressies for friends, parents, etc..I'm slowly going mad....Is this what Christmas is all about?..ARRRGGGHHH!! ( no religious comments please, as I do know the true meaning of Christmas!)

Christmas is suppose to be the one time of year people spread around goodwill and peace!!!!!!!!!! Where then the heck is it!!!!! At work everyone is moaning about sending out christmas cards and not to bother just to send the money to charity, have they heard of charity christmas cards sounds to me like they can not be bothered, then everyone complains christmas is too commerical and all about money. Does anyone else out there agree with me that I love christmas it only happens once a year and you can spend as little or as much as you like, it is the thought that counts and I love seeing people faces at christmas when they open there presents.

I have 3 beautiful boys ages 3,6 and 13 years old and my husband is in jail. I am doing any work I can find but its not even enough to pay the bills. I am going to loose my home by the end of the month and I have to get another place to live. So money is going to be so tight that I won't even afford to buy any christmas for them. I don't have alot of money but I would like to show my apprecation to these hardworkers. I know that ususally federal/gov't employees can't except cash so what can I give these people that work hard (yet I barely know) that's inexpensive but shows I care? Thanks~ Happy Thanksgiving
