I "adopted" a few families to give Christmas presents to this year. They have no money and whatever I get them is all the Christmas they are going to have. I am getting each family member a stocking filled with stuff, one package with clothes in it, and one toy. Is that enough or should I do more? Any ideas?? There are a total of 11 people, maybe more to come.

No, I'm not a Scrooge, but I so long for a simpler, happier Christmastime. A place where not every t.v., radio station, store clerk & billboard doesn't scream 'Buy me, Buy me, Buy me!' I am so sick of the greediness, too. Now we should buy Visa Gift cards, so people can get what they REALLY want? Why don't we just give evryone a $50 bill and be done with it then? The t.v. makes even the sweetest kid seem like a selfish little brat when all you here is " and I want............for Christmas" The commercials bombard the kids and teens with 100s of things they 'need'. And since when is it okay to ask for a $200-400 gift? (video systems and the like). I thought gift-giving was in remeberance of the gifts given to the Newborn Babe? Aren't gifts supposed to be given by the giver to show love & appreciation? Not demanded by the receiver? Why do so many houses have giant Santas in front w/a million lights, but no stable? Is there a place where Christmas is still simple & revered? :(

Pantomimes, with their politically incorrect heroes and villains and their bulky dames with deep voices, should be brought up to date.
Some of the titles, like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Robinson Crusoe with an image of cannibals, are becoming more difficult to stage in this age of political correctness.
Throwing bonbons and boiled sweets into the audience has been a tradition of the festive pantomime for many decades.
But bureaucrats are set to stamp out the tradition because they claim boiled sweets could injure a member of the audience.
At the same time, the custom of having a female star playing the Principal Boy, which goes back to the 19th century, is on the verge of extinction because of fears that modern audiences may interpret her relationship with the female lead as a lesbian one.

About 6-7 years ago some friends took me to a street in Austin (residential) that was all lit up and looked awesome. The homeowners went all out; it was a big thing, as traffic was lined up for miles just to see the light show. I live an hour north of Austin & want to take my son & hubby to see them but can't remember where it was. Any clues?

I am having a problem getting a job, and I don't have any sources of income. I am tight on money right now, and trying to get a job is really difficult for me. I have a 2 savings accounts and a checking account, but there's not much money in any of the accounts.

I have friends I would like to buy Christmas presents for, but without a job; I don't have much money. What should I do, if I am having problems getting a job and I want to buy christmas presents for friends? I am not employed right now, and I'm trying to get a job like I said. By the way, I am 18 years old.

Can anyone give me advice?

Its been a big problem in Muslim societies in western countries. It seems that the western media has achieved a lot of trust even INSIDE muslim communities.Muslims with little idea or knowledge of their own faith seem to be deceived atleast to a small level by the western"media"(or propaganda as I should say)

Some muslims get "lost" spiritually and mentally within...and turn to the deceptionism by the western media, blindly and unknowingly. This is harmful the community and can turn out to be a great misinfluence to other people

What I say is from a lot of thought into this subject. Its from ignorant comments from brothers and sisters, like "U r not a jihadi are u?"or "as long as u dont go for Jihad its ok for me!"

I think there are a lot of muslims here knowledgable enough to guide these members of our faith,Positively we can start showing the beauty of our religion - that it condemns terrorism, conflict and that it encourages modesty, logic and spirituality...

I finished my shopping for all the girls in my family and the kids, but I'm stumped on what to buy all the guys. I need to buy for my dad, brothers and boyfriend. Any ideas?? I do have a small budget, so it can't be too much. My boyfriend should be pretty easy, but my brothers are hard to buy for cause they basically have everything they need already. They're all over the age of 27. Any advice would be cool! thanks:)

A golf club that DH really wants is going to be on sale, so I was going to return what I got him and get it instead. Problem is, I told him I'm not getting it, so now he wants to buy it for himself! How in the world do I keep it a surprise???
