We try to watch a Christmas movie every weekend from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
Every night we spend about 5 minutes snuggling in front of the Christmas tree.
We buy each other an ornament every year and put it in the others Christmas stocking for Christmas morning. We also buy an ornament on every vacation we go on. Hopefully it has the name of the place, and the year.
We have the same breakfast every Christmas morning - it's his mom's egg soufflé recipe and cinnamon buns with fresh orange juice and champagne mimosa’s.
Don’t limit yourselves to Christmas day or Christmas Eve, and try to develop something meaningful and special to the two of you. My husband and I enjoy decorating our home and love the beauty of our tree, so we like to spend a few minutes every night before bed looking at it and enjoying each other. We both enjoy Christmas movies (Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause (1, 2 and 3), Scrooged, White Christmas, Wonderful Life… all of those), we like opening our presents like little kids. The ornaments make Christmas more special, because most of the ornaments on our tree mean something now.
Make it all about you.

That seems to be very exciting moment for you.. Not sure what all you can do.. but may be a nice christmas tree decoration, making the home look great, shop for each other, planning to have get together with family and friends, a special occasion for just two of you.. a very special arrangement for a candle light dinner for just two of you at home, romantic music and a dance.. well too many things you can think of based on what all can make you both feel great ..

Make it a home-based tradition so it can still be done when the kids are in the house.
How about watching a classic Christmas movie with popcorn and munchies?
Or decorating the house? Then the kids can get involved when they are old enough.

I'm thinking dressing up as Santa and a naughty elf would work. Maybe I should be talking to your husband for some good ideas for kicking off some traditions.
Good Luck and have a Merry Christmas

On Christmas Eve my fiance and I go to the dollar store and set a limit to how much we want to spend and buy things to fill our stockings. You could always go somewhere else too.
And obviously decorating is a tradition - I like to set up a Christmas village. When I was a kid we'd buy a new piece for it every year to add. It was something I looked forward to every year.

My husband and I buy a new ornament every year that has the year printed on it. Also, I save the corks from the wine/champagne bottles from special occasions like anniversaries and New Year's Eve, write the dates on them and make them into ornaments.
We don't have kids yet either but I'm sure this is something we will continue to do :) Congrats!

Buy each other a christmas ornament each year. We always tried to make it a themed ornament. When the kids come along, start buying them one each year. By the time they are 10 or 11, your tree is filled with memories.

We have pizza for dinner on Christmas eve; and took turns putting the angel atop the tree. Now the kids do the tree.

My husband and I purchase a new ornament each year...it's something that's fairly inexpensive, since we've only been married almost 2 years!

Mistletoe! And no bickering over silly stuff, it wrecks the mood.
