P.S.

She told me she dressed like an elf because you were hung like an infantile elf. She ended up leaving because you were too embarrassed.

Just putting the lights on the tree every year. I'm a perfectionist and the cord isn't allowed to show at all, LOL. It's my own fault for being that way so I can't complain that it took me 3 hours to do it last night and I'm still not finished. I had to go buy some more today b/c some quit working; I expect it to take another hour or so. [Sigh]

The year before last my hubby put the lights up outside & detailed the entire roof. Then, he left for Iraq and left me to take them down. I climbed the ladder & got on the roof, did my thing and then went to go down the ladder, only to realize it was knocked down. Luckily, I only had to wait about 10 minutes for one of my neighbors to come outside.

We just moved into a new place -- Christmas eve -- there was boxes all over the place, but we had to set up the tree, right ... well, it was a new, second hand tree, but the stand didn't fit right, so when we finally had it all set up and decorated except for the star on top, I reached up to put the star on, and the whole thing fell over ... Fortunately, our apartment has a T bar ceiling, so me and a friend anchored the top of the tree to the t bars with fishing line and had a good laugh about it ... we still haven't got a new tree, can't bring ourselves to part with that special moment ... l.o.l

The hanging of lights on my Porch the devastation of tying
them down to secure them from blowing them to the winds
in case of a winter Storm As my house faces the Ocean
so this year I plan to see the light at touch down in
three different Run Way's on three different Porches
And with the thought to be home again for the New Year,
I think the Stars will be great to light my life in passing
that milky way. and to bump upon the Real Peace of X'mas
Star as if wandering in too the home's of My Children.and
their Children at Christmas ..

besides half of the lights not working and untangling the mess to put it up in the first place..... need I go on... cussing as I'm doing this task is always fun.

What's more frustrating is seeing the jackass' in my hood put up a Christmas Tree and have it so shiny and sparkly RIGHT AFTER HALLOWEEN what the hell was that all about...
We have a rule no Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving..

What is the rush with these peeps putting up Christmas decorations right after Halloween and b4 Thanksgiving.

Don't even get me started on the peeps that go shopping on Black Friday.. that's another soap box of mine. LOLOLOLOL

We actually do OK decorating for Christmas. We have the usual issues with lights and decorations breaking, but overall it goes fairly smooth.

Perhaps, I'm comparing my situation to my childhood though. In general, my parent's got (and still get) along quite well, but decorating for Christmas seems to test their marriage every year. My mom loves a Christmas tree and my dad could probably do without.

Well, in the interest of compromise, my dad goes and gets a Christmas tree every year. The crowds and the insane prices leave him in a bad mood when he gets home. Watching him struggle to put the tree up and get the lights sorted out and put on would be funny enough, but my mom's constant "helping" just adds to the amusement.

My mom is alergic to Christmas trees so she won't touch them, but she'll provide my grumpy father with plenty of "ideas". They eventually get the tree up and decorated every year and I always remind my dad that it could be worse - mom could want lights on the house!

Getting the lights on the house is the worst! I am afraid of hrights and so I always have to beg or bribe someone to do it for me and thats a big headache! Its an even bigger one getting someone to climb back on the roof and take them down. Right now you are probally wondering why not skip the lights if I can't do them and getting someone else to do it is like pulling eyeteeth.... but its so beautiful and my lils love it!
