I saw that someone had been scammed about a year ago. These people have been calling me repeatedly this week & I refuse to give them any info. The telephone number he gave was different from the one reported in the other instance. They have such an accent if is very difficult to understand them. They hung up when we told them we would call social security, medicare, the attorney general and the FCC.

The one room outdoors with a 1/4 moon on the door?

2007-08-16 12:32:48 · 13 answers · asked by Anonymous

Hello. I would like your opinions on this.
I am 55. Married. Same employer 21 years.
My problem is the drive; I drive 1 hour to work, 1 hour home, each day. 21 years ago, I paid $5 per day for gas. Now I pay $35 per day for gas. AND 21 years ago, it took 45 minutes to get to work. Now it takes 1 hour. Both ways.
So I worry about 12 years from now, when I am 67 and have 30+ years at my job. Do I retire? Or not? I will get social security and my 401K, but that will be 1/3 of my annual income!
And I want to keep working, close to home. But what job? Greeter, or bag boy? Due to my age... I do not want to have more "time at home," I would rather work. But I do not want to give up a great job, great benefits, great medical, just to save gas and time.

What do you think I should do?

Do you remember when people used to sit on their front porches during the 50's & 60's, & relax with family & neighbors? Our front porch often served as a second living room. It was a meeting place of sorts & my family & I enjoyed sitting on the porch, especially on those hot summer evenings, when it was too hot to stay inside. We'd sip cold sodas & watching the people/cars go by. That's when you knew your neighbors & got together to catch up on the latest. I am still a porch sitter & I love doing so.

Do you think a plan such as this would really be a deterrent against ID theft?

In the mid 50's, the coal man used to come to our home & deliver a load of coal on a certain date each month. My dad would go to the basement, unlock the coal bin window, then the coal would come tumbling into the coal bin, via a short slide that the coal man stuck in through the window. What a lot of noise & what a dirty mess. I can still picture my dad loading up the ole furnace with coal, especially on those cold Ohio winter nights. It sure kept our home toasty warm. :)

The theme song "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" played? The beer ads were Hamm's beer (from the land of sky blue waters), Black Label (hey Mabel, Black Label), and Pabst's Blue Ribbon beer? I knew the words to all those jingles!

The programs were all in black'n'white. The roof top had an atenna that you had to go out side to turn to get the station you want? You only got 3 channels back then. ABC,CBS,NBC. The picture you got depended on the weather conditions?

I took my son to a love-in at Griffith Park when he was very young. I took super-8 movies of him crawling around and playing with dogs laughing and having a great time. He hates that I did this! He hates the long hair I let him wear when he was 2-3 years old. He hates everything about hippies. I like to call myself an x-flower child.

I'd like to hear from others who came of age during the 60's in the USA. What is your philosophy of life? What words of wisdom would you like to share with the young people of today?

My philosophy of life is "Go With the Flow." (I know you remember that one from the 60's!) My words of wisdom would be "love and appreciate your family."

I remember that we were told that that is where bad boys and girls went. No one ever wanted to go there. A true deterrent. Also do you remember truant officers? Another deterrent that worked back then.

What I want is to ask q's and get answer's which is why I am asking this, cos I need a stress free minute,I'd also like to spend time in my garden or read an interesting story I have waiting.

What I have to do though, is go to the surgery for a prescription for hubbies insulin. Print down some info for a meeting this evening. Find some important papers, send some local councillors letters. Then attend mentioned meeting.
The local housing association have applied to build three new properties at the end of my garden, some of us have been campaigning for weeks now to get this stopped, and tonight is the first time we are getting a face to face chance of airing our views.Need to feed husband and cat too. lol

So that's my day sorted, how's yours? x

I recently bought a home in a neighborhood with a lot of elderly people. Some stare and wait until my family speak everyday, some speak only when they feel like it,some don't speak at all, and some just speak too much. I have one neighbor that waves for a loooooong time then proceed to wave all day when they see us... this is annoying. How should I handle it? Right now I just go with the flow.
