Short stuff,
I know! What a crazy title to give someone! First time I was called that, I took offense! LOL I had NO clue that it was my title. I soon learned from the owner (the pharmicist)!

I surely do remember them. The drug stores were a great place to go & meet your friends & have a soda, milkshake or a burger & fries. When some of the older customers came in to chat with their buddies, their stories about the past were really fun to listen to. Why was it that the bar stools all had red seats (they were in Ohio) & why was the person behind the counter called a "soda jerk?"
Mabel....Gee, you look just like Betty White, my favorite Golden Girl." ~lol~

Remember them? I worked at one and it was always busy. (You can still get those malts in the big metal tins at Big Boy - about once or twice a year I go there just to get a malt). And the store I worked in also had red, round stools at the fountain along with those cute little wrought iron tables and chairs. I used to make lemon cokes for myself. At least once a week three boys from my younger sister's class would come into the store about ten minutes before closing and they would order banana splits but I wouldn't give them any hot fudge because I had already cleaned the hot fudge machine. I really enjoyed working there which I did for about a year up to the time I graduated from high school.

Of course I do. I once recall going by a drug store somewhere in Kansas that had been blown up by a gas leak explosion. All the walls were blown out, and everything was blown outward from the soda fountain in the rear of the store where the gas was. But sitting on the counter, untouched by the explosion, was the pyramid of soda glasses that they always had at the ready back then. Some things you never forget.

Absolutely! The was a drug store on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. up the street from where I went to high school. There was a great soda fountain there, and I used to love to go there after school.

Yes I do. On my lunch hour from my summer job I would go and sit at the counter. I would get a milkshake (when I could afford it) and a hot dog sandwich. I love soda fountains. If you go to Johnny Rocket's you can relive those times. Food is good too!

Yeah, I remember! My grandpa and grandma always let me get an ice cream sundae. What a treat. The drug stores sure have changed. I miss the old style gas stations too. I would LOVE to have someone fill my car up with gas, clean the windshield, check the air in the tires and the oil level. Memories!!!!

Sure do...lunch, drinks, etc. Did they all have red vinyl stools, or was that just in the mid west! I agree, something were fun in a slower world. But the trade off is ok also. Let's face it, we ain't gonna go back.
