I actually worked at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation who built the LEM [Lunar Excursion Module] as a Quality Control technician and worked on everyone that went to the moon or To a museum or to a training facility in Houston TX. Did I watch, you bet your sweet *** I watched. I was absolutely amazed that it made it, and made it back. Electronically it was crude, it's electronics were all analog, you PC is more complicated than the nerve center of a LEM...but it was a great day with much pride and lots of high fives!!!!! The LEM was born and Raised in Bethpage NY

We were living in Yokohama Japan at the time and watched it on the Japanese national network (NHK). Needless to say, it was a very curious broadcast. They did a split-screen, with the simulation of the Eagle lander heading towards the surface of the moon on the left side , while a shaven-headed Buddhist priest prayed for a safe landing on the right side. An interesting blend of East and West. I went out to sea shortly thereafter. We used our special antenna to point up at the Lani Bird satellite and watch the splashdown live as well.

Yes. I recall being utterly amazed and very proud of the United States for we seemed to have started out from behind and won the race to the moon.

I got to watch it on TV with my family arrayed around it watching closely. It was exciting and wonderful. And I don't believe any of the conspiracy crap about the whole landing being played out on some mysterious soundstage.

Saw it on TV..."one small step for man, one Giant step for mankind." The competition with the USSR made us very vested in landing....not sure what it accomplished, but we landed..."the eagle has landed." And yes, various conspiracy theories abound....as they always do about everything. The only thing I know about conspiracies is that it is impossible to keep them quiet...hell, try keeping an innocent secret quiet...never works, does it?

Yes, I do remember this well! I was with my Dad and we watched it on the TV. He was not a happy camper about this! LOL! "If God would have wanted us on the moon, He would have planted us there!" LOL!! I was trying to hear the TV but, my commentary was coming from my Dad!
Even so, it is still a very vivid image in my mind.
