Good grief, it looks like you are just trying to find a way to uninvite them. Get real! No you are not risking a lawsuit because you wouldn't have invited them over if they could barely get around would you? I imagine not. Now get rid of the over active imagination and get something for dinner.

The difference between a small child falling and an elderly woman is that elderly people are 1000% more likely to hurt themselves. At the store i work at an elderly woman fell claiming she tripped on the crapet and now she is suing. But still, not inviting them over because they may get hurt seems a little too paranoid in general. If anything, just help them up and down the steps and make sure there are no potential ways for them to trip or fall.

You sound like you're being forced into this against your will. Is this some sort of social conscience thing that you have going with your church or social group?
If you don't want strange older people in your home, then don't invite them. It is that simple.
If however, you want to have wonderful conversations about life growing up during the war when rationing meant saving up your coupons for months in order to have the ingredients to bake a cake....Or all the hard work that went into a typical day of farming during the depression....Or their take on the latest Earlene Fowler mystery...Then by all means, invite these elderly people to dinner. Make sure there are no throw rugs that they can trip on. And congratulate yourself on an evening well spent when they are gone.

Well first of all even middle age to young people are suing now over the least little thing so I don't think you should categorize Senior Citizens in the suing department.
A good suggestion would be to make sure your home as adult proof or child proof as much as possible because you might even be the one falling!
I'm not trying to be insulting or sarcastic but in this life anything can happen at anytime.
If you really like these seniors then throw a little caution to the wind and invite them if not then don't.

Are you risking a lawsuit by inviting younger people over who may trip over their own feet? When you become a senior citizen, will you enjoy being invited out to dinner? Put yourself in their position! I think you have nothing to worry about and the elderly guests will be very happy to have a change of pace.

Strange question...I am 66, have had dinner parties all my life, for all ages, and never once worried that I was going to put myself in a position of getting sued ! When I reach the point of worrying about stuff like this, I will fold it up, close up the doors, and slink off to a corner. Thanks for the invite, but I decline. In my life, I have found that those who are afraid of things happening to them are the ones that cause things to happen to others....hmmmmmmm perhaps you should dig a little deeper into your head and see what is going on...do you sue people regularly?

I'm concerned for people who think as you do! Why don't you consider the fact that if you catagorize everyone...you would find that all would be a "RISK" for your fright of lawsuits!

Oh yeah, I love tripping over your chairs and suing you. Isn't that why you have homeowner's insurance? Actually, small children are even more dangerous. Don't invite them either.

No, I think if you are that concerned you shouldn't ever ask anyone over, because accidents happen in all ages. Do you have home owners insurance?
