Once my sister and I were traveling with my parents, stopped on the Rogers Pass to use the outdoor facilities. We were in our 20's. My sister used the toilet, then I did. We got back into the car, started driving, and she said to me "Did you see that huge spider inside the hole?" (outdoor toilet, hole for the waste, wooden seat, yuk I hate them) I said "yah saw it". She said "What did you do?" I said "Nothing but he sure got pissed off." And we both cracked up. My mother went ballistic and slapped me and said "how dare you use such foul language!"

Did anyone else have an uptight mother who was just over the top in her attitude about language? She was nuts, she hated the word "scunge" so we used it all the time, as much as possible.

Urban dictionary: Scunge: Slime or dirt that is both unidentifiable and nasty, and possibly likely to give birth to sentient life in the future. IE: "what is that scunge in your fridge?"

(of the U.S.) with just the Bill of Rights, like in the beginning. Would there be anarchy? Do you think it was anarchy then, more or less?

Second question: Do you think we would have made the same Bill of Rights if we had it to do all over again, given what we know now?

(I know this isn't the politics section, but I like it here!)

My first job was when I was 15, I sold magazines over the phone, but it was short lived, I ran out of relatives to sell to. LOL

My next job was working at a private lodge in Northern WI, I was cleaning cabins, helping in the kitchen, peeling 50 lb. bags of potatoes at 5:30 AM, waiting tables. , washing dishes. All that for $1.60 per hour! The tips were great though, and the owners of the lodge gave us a free apartment and we could use the jeep to get around the 1200 acres.

I grew up on a farm and I can remember for a time we had no running water in the house everyone drank from the same water bucket that parents filled from the pump we had outside . When I was born my parents put in a bathroom in the house but had to haul in water in to bath or flush the potty this was in the late 1950's to sometime in the 60's. My kids cringe when they hear about this and can't believe that was the way of my life back then.
