About time, people are reporting questions and answers that dont violate any rules, all of mine were reported.
Unfortunately one member for some reason decided I had somehow insulted her.
I had posted to ONE of her questions saying "not everyone had an ideal childhood and if you think they did you are being naive."
THAT was enough to drive her into a frenzy of reporting all my posts, bashing me all over the internet. Accusing me of stalking her, harassing her.
I answered ONE question. I have just received a violation for my question "Have you noticed kids these days dont want to play outside?" Unbelievable
So I am very happy to see this happening. I report people on the People with Disabilties site for calling the members retards etc. This is VERY offensive.

With all of the unstable people who use the internet, the Yahoo site should be able to use their technology to put 2+2 together so that they equal 4, but for some unknown reason, 2+2 is sometimes seen as 22! It's just easier to avoid the people who have no clue by blocking them! Even if they have a good question posted, I won't answer it because a blocked user (red circle w/a slash through the middle) is looking for their next victim. They are abusers of the worst kind. Some call them Trolls...That's a kind word for a person with a hidden agenda! I hope the new system works out & these people are reduced to 0 or completely eliminated from the Yahoo site!

If they run true to form, this is a meaningless system that will solve nothing. Only when they ban the IP address will we see a real change here. As long as computers are doing the investigating, more wrong will happen than right..that has been my experience with computers AND with Yahoo. I have reached a point where I totally ignore trolls, just click on "block" and leave it at that..a red circle with a line through it appears on their questions...telling me to ignore completely that question. I no longer report them as trolls, for it is a waste of time when, from the same IP address, they simple open a new account which takes about 1 minute of time. For me, I wouldn't waste the one minute, but then again, I don't understand the mentality of trolls...they accomplish nothing in their rantings, they accomplish nothing but ill will..and all the negative energy has to come home someday. IF I were to reach a point in life where my entire life was spent only to irritate other people, it is time to take me out...period. And, trolls are not even entertaining..they don't seem to have the intelligence to really insult anyone...most just cut and paste the same thing over and over...yet, daily, I see 20-40 responses to troll's postings....yet another waste of time, and with that waste, reports are made BY THE TROLL! Anyone who has trouble recognizing a troll at work must be living in a dream world. When a question is posted that outrages you, assume the worst, that a troll is at work, block the asker and leave it alone. Only when troll's work is completely ignored will they go for greener pastures. BUT, even one response is enough for them to feel they have attention. When I post TROLL at work in the Senior's group, it is a warning..for many here do not realize what a troll does...but I am discontinuing that irksome writing....if all of us cannot recognize a troll, then so be it. I am no longer playing in any game they play in....just block and go to another question. Very simple, very easy, requires almost no energy. IF at a later date, you find that you have blocked someone who IS NOT a troll, then you can always unblock with another click of the button. Good luck and peace, Goldwing.

I just finished reading the new guidelines, and I think they're really trying. In something this big, we really have to police ourselves and each other, but they still need to be sure that if we report something it's legitimate, which is why they go back and look at the record.
I've reported two, both for objectionable content. One was offensively bigoted and the other actually advocated killing. Perhaps the writer thought he/she was being funny, but I was horrified.
I do have one question. How do we block someone? I've not seen any responses to any of my questions that I found bothersome enough to block the poster, but if I ever do, how do I?

One problem with disconnecting all the yahoo addresses at a certain IP can be best described by my living circumstances...
I own this computer, but I am not it's only user. I have two yahoo accounts, only one of which is open on answers because my original account got suspended from my own little troll's actions.
My youngest daughter has her yahoo mail site which is her ONLY mail site, and answers account (which she doesn't use much at all).
My oldest daughter also has her yahoo mail and answers account.
Ditto for my youngest daughter's boyfriend.
And each of my three grandsons.
So, say my youngest daughter's boyfriend should decide to go onto answers and play around at being a troll (he has the personality for it), and gets himself suspended....that hurts him. But none of the rest of us.
If however, they close out ALL accounts originating from the same IP (which is MY computer) then all of us suffer for one persons actions--and none of us would have known this was going on, or helped him to do this, so why should WE be penalized.
Yes, Goldwing, at first glance, closing off yahoo entirely for one IP address would seem to be a solution....but like anything else in life, there are always exceptions.

Maybe I'm naive, but I hope the new system helps. At least to cut down on the racist trolls and those weird work from home scams.

It poses no problem for me. The only ones I've reported are "questions" which are really spam. If Yahoo wants to challenge those decisions, there's a group of Nigerians they might want to meet. LOL!
