I have a friend who is black and her tastes veer towards ballet and opera, K.D. Laing and Sting. She likes intelligent, kind people--whether they are black or white, and doesn't care for hostile, belligerent people whether they are black or white. She wonders how anyone who calls him/herself a Christian can allow race to enter the equation. Her (biological) brothers think she is cool, but her (biological) sisters torment her because of her tastes and views, and call her stupid, ugly, and every other demeaning name in the book. What's wrong with them? Could it be partly the "Cinderella" scenario, since she is very pretty, and her sisters aren't, and they're just jealous?
