Why is that mexican american, cuban american, chinese american and so on and so forth are considered seperate minorities, but white people are lumped under 'white'? Why is there no german american, irish american, scottish american, ect minorites? If it just went by color, why are cuban, peutro rican and mexican all considered seperate? They're all the same color, just like white people are (actually, if you look at an italian and a swede, they are definately NOT the same color)
My example- a college application or the SATS both ask for a race- peurto rican and mexican are seperate on those, but 'white' is just lumped together. Can anyone give me a logical reason for this?

Thanks for all your responds...First..I did not take anything away from the indians..Infact my grandmother survived the nazi regeme, my grandfather was a german in the army at the time..not once in there 60 years of marriage did I ever hear them talk or argue what someone owes them..especailly those who where tortured..Because I may look white to this family..all I hear is what people owe them..I do not own land that was once Indian land. I did nothing to even give this family the thought of my forefather's oweing them something...everything I have I have earned it myself and not looking back and grieving for something that should..Believe me I know what torture is, nad grieving is..I am sorry about what happended to indians..but I can't change that, Alaska has given there people land and what did they do..sell it..So then what is it that they want..?? I don't have it?? Anyone??

There were several programs on TV recently on different channels about the roles of women in Islam. (And that caused me to watch too much TV, BTW.) One (BBC) concerned women and children and the regeneration of the Taliban in Afghanistan (and N Pakistan). Another (DIS) concerned women and Sharia Law in Saudi Arabia and then there were two more (one called "Last days in Iran" or paraphrased). It was about Zara Maleki, a photo journalist born in Iran but living in Canada, who was arrested and killed by torture by the Iranians while she was there to visit her family. I hope you get to see them. I wish they did not instill a feeling of dread in me. But after viewing them and sorting thru the implications (which was not the editorial purpose of these very PC programs), I am even more convinced that the struggles with Islam will be long and hard. If people worldwide do not awaken and realize how evil the fundamentalists in this religion are then much of the world will succumb to them and all their repressions. I wonder how a religion that some practitioners genuinely and candidly believe is 'peaceful' and worthwhile has been hijacked so completely by an evil faction? And why do they not comprehend this at some visceral level and react to correct and expel the errant teachings of some? The problem seems to me to be that the truly moderate practitioners of 'secular' Islam ( for instance, an Iranian woman who follows Islamic teachings and loves the Quran but does not want nor does she wear a burkha, nor is she repressed by Sharia Law) do not recognize the danger to their lifestyle that is a part of Islamic fundamentalism. And not only will they not recognize and demand that fundamentalists cease and desist their unlawful practices, but they will indirectly support them with contributions and rhetorical support and even ally with radicals against people who do point out, condemn or even criticize the fundamentalists' factions, much less fight them openly. A big problem is that fundamentalists are more successful in converting large numbers to Islam and forcing larger numbers of people who are secular to become fundamentalists than the secular people are in moderating the extremists. The simple fact is that even basic Islam has a male oriented, repressive system of conduct and morals as a large part of its belief system. Then, if you get serious about being a 'true' Moslem, one must get even more extreme, even medieval in conduct and repression (particularly of women). An 11 year old Afghani refugee in Pakistan who works as a rug weaver and has completed his Midrasa training, when taken on a holiday to a water park, where he saw almost fully dressed (by western standards) men and women (mostly boys and girls) just swimming together and pronounced that all of them would 'go to hell', and that by just being there he had likely condemned himself to that fate also. The reporter, a moderate Moslem Pakistani woman, who had taken him there as a reward did not even try to dispute his viewpoint. What is the message this gives that future Jihadist(self described future)?

And can this really be a healthy lifestyle, especially with children? A few weeks ago I found out my neighbors are swingers! If I didn't send off such a "moral" vibe I think they would hit on us. They are kind of cute...:) But not my thing at all!

I saw this Law and Order episode last night. It's inspired me to ask this question.

In the episode, it was all based on a black man who killed a police officer becuase he felt it was in self defence. ( Which I happened to agree with once the story was told :P ) What I didn't agree with though, was this guy was argueing with a black man ( in the court room ) for being basically racist without knowing it for a fact first. He was just accusing him of being so. ( The man was not )

What I would like to know is, do you think it is just as wrong for a black man to accuse a white man of being racist ( providing that he had shown the very thing bothered him, that he was not racist ) , as it is for a white man being racist against a black man?

They are common scum and it is people like her and her mother who lower the standards of the UK.
They are disgusting creatures, unable to hold a decent human conversation. Why do people care about them so much, why are they even allowed on TV?
If people like this are the future of Britain...God Help Us All !!!!
They cannot string a line of thoughtful words together, they act like ally cats and they are gross in manner.
No wonder so many children in the UK grunt instead of speak when they have parents like this.

My mom was pissed off when she heard the Black population had the highest rates of out of wedlock births. And she told me "if you want to get married, don't marry a Black man they barely even marry us anymore." She was married twice to two Black men including my father and both me and my older brother born we're born out of wedlock and both men didn't finish college. I want to get married but I already seen some young Black men messing up. What are my chances of marrying a good Black man or let along any good man?

I was wondering other people's view on this. Personally I am a white female who grew up in southwest detroit. For those of you who are not familiar with that area, it is not white at all. mainly black and hispanic. I was called white girl and cracker quite a bit growing up. My best friend who is black refers to herself as my daughters aunt and both white and black people always look at us funny. Why do people of all races feel the need to hang out with only their race? When people are friends with other people why do they get looked at and have comments thrown at them. She has heard from her cousins why do you hang out with that cracka as I have heard similar things myself. Why do people assume that white people do not get discriminated against? Why is it that we have things such as a ***** college fund or indian college fund and not a caucasion college fund. Anyways i am looking for intelligent answers.
