I think everyone has felt racism towards them .I do believe that certain cultures might experience it more ...depending on the society or community they live in .It is sad that people feel the name to make fun of anyone who at first glance seem to be different then them . Really I think the human race has more in common then they really believe they do . I don't live in the States but always wondered why you do have colleges that identify themselves by race ! It does not bring people together but seperate them . It really takes a certain type of person to choose to see both sides of the coin ...kudoos for you :)
Saying that you decided to send your child to an all white school like I read is not trying to tear a rip in the blanket of hatred but trying to sew more onto it . Personally when I hear anyone saying anything derog about any culture I am usually the one who stands up and voice my opinion .If more people did that it would make it socially unacceptable but that's not the case many join in the ridicule because they want to be part of the group

1. you really should move
2. some of my very best friends are white. They will be my children's aunts. simple. If people have something to say, give them a strange look.
3. it's a real shame that there are areas like this. In very black populations you sometimes get this behavior. (in highly concentrated populations of any culture, really). However, there are many diverse areas of this country. That's what makes America so great, that there's something for everyone. But please don't feel that people in different groups don't hang out with each other.
4. and there are funds for just white people. However, most white people don't want to touch something from supremacists. And the ***** college fund is ONLY FOR HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES!!!! (and it's not goverment funded, i don't know where people get that from) It's not like you can get the scholarship and go even to state school. It's not all it's cracked up to be, and really doesn't exist anymore, other than in the minds of few. But anyway, if you are white and want to go to an HBCU, you will have a lot of scholarships to do so. they cater to whites much more than blacks, because they want whites in their schools for diversity reasons, and feel that if blacks choose to go to their school for legacy reasons and have the money to pay. Don't be fooled.

Of course all races are discriminated against and yes this include whites. I grew up around the Miami area and had many black friends but when we were over their house playing I would have to leave because their father didn't allow whites in his house. The reason different college funds exist is to fix a perceived unbalance or unfairness issue. There was no doubt a time when this was needed but I think it outlived it's use fullness.

The most intelligent answer I can give you is this:
Racism is simply this fear of the unknown. If you think about it it makes sense.
For example, normally when people think of black people, they think of robbers, guns, uneducated, poor, ghetto, cadillacs with rims, drugs, rappers, etc. When people think of Arabs its- Terriosts, turbans, gas stations, subway, hondas, bombs, etc. How about Chinese? Rice, swords, electronics, chopsticks, rudeness, poor manners, etc. White people? White trash, trailers parks, country music, educated or uneducated, lawayers, welfare, strip clubs, cigars, etc. Mexicans? Take our money and jobs, illegal immigrants, taco bell, dirty, etc
What I'm trying to explain is EVERBODY gets discriminated somehow. Whether its older people who can't drive, a young mother on welfare, a black couple living in a white community. Iraqis on a plane, etc. But, here's the kicker. The only people that can stop being racismare the people that are racist themselves.
Here's the way that I look at other races, and how other people should too. We are all people. We are all human beings with the same heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and brain. We just have one difference our skin color.
No to answer another part of your question, why do all races hang out together?? Its part of their comfort zone. And sometimes people dont want to step out of their comfort zones. They feel that maybe they connect with their race on a different level than they can another race.
I hoped that helped you out!

Well I think it all goes back to people and their need to label everything. You are "white" and you would be different to a "black" person, because of the labeling.
As far as the college funds and what not, I think its the Government trying to get some political correctness points.

Black folk get away with saying just about anything they want. Many believe it is their right to dis the man. Nowadays, white folk can't even say one word out of line without being crucified. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do not represent the views of all black people. They only continue to divide.

I am on board with you. The more we try to accommodate a specific group of people, the more the other groups what to be accommodated and before you know it, we have more discrimination. People don't look on the inside, but rather the outside. We do that as part of our human "ness". Questions like yours get us to think about it, be conscious about it and more apt to change our own way of looking at people that are different from ourselves.

I am a White person living in Atlanta, which is 60% black, and referred to as the Black Mecca. I have been cut off at intersections (nearly every day), rear ended, hit in the back of the legs with shopping carts, pushed out of line or skipped in line, and ignored by salespeople, all black. I got so sick of it, that I decided to send my child to a private, mostly white school so she would not be discriminated against because she is White. It is enormously costly, but worth it to see her living a normal childhood.

Hi, I am in Australia and it is the same here. Us white people are discriminated against in many ways. Personally i think we are all humans..... nothing more... nothing less but the aboriginal people get hand outs everywhere. If I am looking for an employee I am not alowed to say "must be white" but they can say "must be of Aboriginal descent". They get super cheap housing, free meals, can get away with crime because no one wants to upset them. The list is endless. We are all humans for F@@k sake.
