I did nothing to even give this family the thought of my forefather's oweing them something...everything I have I have earned it myself and not looking back and grieving for something that should..Believe me I know what torture is, nad grieving is..I am sorry about what happended to indians..but I can't change that, Alaska has given there people land and what did they do..sell it..So then what is it that they want..?? The bible in Deuteronomy 24:16 "Fathers should not be put to death on account of children, and children should not be put to death on account of fathers. Each one should be put to death for his own sin". Although the language sounds harsh, the message is clear- that children should not be made to account for what their parents have done and vice versa. We are what we are, faults and all. Although we can impart the lessons of our mistakes, we cannot hold anyone accountable for the results of that mistake, good or bad, except ourselves.

Some people need something to complain about and/or someone to blame. Somehow it makes them feel better about themselves and their own faults. We all are individuals. Each of us has faults and imperfections. Blaming others does not make them go away. Accept what and who you are. If you don't like something, change it for the better. Complaining never accomplishes anything. My theory: Unless you have done some work for me and I failed to pay you a fair wage, I don't owe you a damn thing.

People in general want to complain, and blame all of their problems on somebody else instead of taking responsibility for their own actions.
I am technically considered white, but.... nearly all of my ancestors even the white ones (as recently as my great grandfather) were slaves.
He was a cherokee slave, born into slavery, but I don't hold that against anybody. I'm sure as hell not going to hold it against the ancestors of his owners. That is just ridiculous. That would be like me stealing from somebody in your family, and you suing my grandkids.
You don't have anything to apologize for, nobody does. People need to get over it.

Well, I'm half Native. The concept of the sins of the fathers being visited upon the sons still exists in a lot of Native cultures, not so much in mine as in some others.
