The following is an article that takes religion out of the gay marriage argument and makes it rather secular in an attempt to take out all the moral issues that gay marriage brings up and just tries to show how it will impact society. I am personally a supporter of gay marriage, and I was wondeirng how others would respond aganist this article?

people who think for, for any reason at all, that homosexuality is unnatural and morally wrong, are demonized and labeled as homophobes, bigots, and every other name in the book? If they want to be accepted for who they are and not have people try to change the way they are then why can't they do the same for others?

I am a supporter of gay rights but something has always bugged me about how advocates talk about homosexuality. There is always a discussion about if homosexuality is "natural", I think we all know it is. My question refers not to if it is natural but rather if it is something that parents should have the right to change in their child (while in the womb). Because, as I see it, homosexuality is not something that is necessarily helpful to the human race in the evolutionary sense (which, I do not mean to offend anyone, but I think that kind of qualifies it as a "hindrance")...So, what argument is there advocating the outlawing of parents being able to keep their children (through gene therapy) from being homosexual?

You probably clicked on this just dying to call me a bigot. I am simply looking for understanding. Please do not think i dislike gay people i just have questions thats all

OK so any reasonable person knows that homosexuality is NOT a choice and that it is born into. That is established. However since (until very very recently with embryonic research) homosexuals will typically not reproduce because they arent attracted to the opposite sex. In evolutionary terms this could not be an advantage. Would it be fair to call homosexuality a birth defect in the same league as things like :

Male pattern baldness
A lazy eye
Third nipple

Obviously the IMPLICATIONS societally are much different but really they shouldn't be. Why can't we just look at homosexuality like baldness and is it OK to charaterize it in this way.

Think about it.
Gay, goy, liberal, conservative, Christian, atheist, agnostic, progressive, traditional, emo, goth, butch, TV, TG, TS etc etc etc.
Do you think people place labels more on themselves in order to fit in, or impose them on others in order to box others into groups.
I tend to suspect we label ourselves and then get offended when others use these labels to generalize when they are only going off the information we have given them.
What are you thoughts?

Folks - I know the GOP, for the most part, doesn't want you to be allowed to marry each other.

And I disagree with them on that - I've really never understood why you do or like what you do but it's none of my business and none of the government's business and if you want to marry each other, that would do me no harm, you should be allowed to.

But the radical muslims - not all muslims, the radicals - they want to stone you to death, because the Koran literally translated says that's what should happen to you.

And in the parts of the world where they're in charge, that's what would happen to you.

Hate Bush all you want but the radical islamic terrorists hate America because we're the place where people are free to do what they want - yourselves being a prime example.

Should we ignore this threat?

Think about it: they go around calling people "fags", "dikes", etc. Then they expect people to "change" (which I do not believe is possible), while they are already putting labels on those who are gay.

And even people who may seem gay get labeled, causing them to "change" into gays.

I am starting to wonder if my fear of being alone is trapping me in an unhealthy relationship. I know the relationship is bad for both of us. But I keep teeling myself, and she seems to tell herself, we can fix it because we love each other. But I just keep feeling pain, and that I am causing pain. I wonder if its because I am so afraid of being alone.

and people just point out specifics and call you a bigot. I once asked "what makes asians MORE LIKELY to be good at math?" THATS NOT A RACIST STATEMENT. No more than what makes some black people better athletes. But there are always the people who think that your picking on them specifically. How can we understand culture if we can;t look at it broadly. Statisically and mathematically exeptions are known as "blips" not "the persecuted.

RENO, Nev. - A couple who authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a boy age 22 months and a girl age 11 months, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital, authorities said. Both children are doing well and gaining weight in foster care, prosecutor Kelli Ann Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Michael Straw, 25, and Iana Straw, 23, pleaded guilty Friday to two counts each of child neglect. Each faces a maximum 12-year prison sentence.

I have received lots of encouragement from all of you, but I still get pretty peeved at some of the things people say on here. I have a tendency of ''investigating'' people that leave hatefilled comments...and I read other comments they make...then I get real mad.
My partner says I should stop using Q&A, but I like being able to help people with questions...and feel like a part of it all....

Do you have any suggestions for what YOU do to not get angry or upset when purely evil people post mean and hurtful comments?

Love you all....Have a GREAT DAY!!!
