2007 is the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery. The campaign was led in 1807 by William Wilberforce from Hull and the LGBT Community in Hull is trying to link our general awareness campaign next year to the anti slavery campaign. We cannot find any published evidence of abuse of gay, lesbian or trans slaves - but we are sure there must be some. At that time Christians were slaughtering gay and trans members of Native American tribes.

If anyone has any useful information I would love to hear it - including any modern incidences of LGBT people being abused by the still flourishing international slave trade.

Do '**** hags' secretly want to seduce us? Do they want to say to their friends "Oh, look, I'm so trendy, I know a gay person?" or "Look at me, I'm so poofter tolerant"?

I read that the part of the brain responsible for primitive sex drive -i.e. the part that makes men stare at boobs or butts - usually only reacts to either male or female attributes but not both.
So when a man is bisexual only the fascination for one sex is backed up by primitive instincts and the other has other reasons. Is that true?

Do you like eating cheese during sex? My gf and other lady partners are all cheese-eaters. I'm just wondering if there are many others out there. Please be honest with your replies. Cheers!

OK, long story short. My ex recently got into contact with me and basically apologized for being a jerk and ending our relationship. We met up once last Saturday and he said that he still has feelings for me. I'm happy, but being with him reminded me of what we had and I want it back. He hasn't spoken to me since then and I don't know what to do.

I want to end everything because I don't want to keep guessing if he wants to get back together not. I hate feeling like this. I hate waiting and not knowing what to do, or how to act. I should probably give him some time seeing as how he just got out of an abusive relationship. Any advice would help.

I recently started a new job, and tonight I worked with this guy who was really nice and easy to get along with. He's a minister in training, and works with some kind of ministry that advocates abstinence (sp?) for teenagers and youg adults. He even gave me one of their CDs, although I haven't listened to it yet. The guy is really nice (but I have no plans to date him, it's not like that), but if I work with him I feel he has a right to know about my sexuality (gay) and how I feel about his stance on homosexuals (if negative). I plan on listening to his CD out of his politeness, but it would be difficult coming out to this individual -- even though he should know already, given I wear a "gay pride" bracelet. How should I confront this situation?

i received a letter from a friend of mine who is also a girl. it basically says that she is in love with me and wants to be my gf. i am a lesbian, but i do not like her in that way. i only like her as a friend, and now that she has sent me this letter, i feel hesitant to be around her. it makes me feel uncomfortable. i have told her that i only like her as a friend, but i dont think she really believes me - i think she thinks she still has a chance with me. what should i do, i dont want to keep reminding her that i only like her as a friend

OF COURSE THEY SHOULD! I just wanted to further weed out the ignorance of this board with this question. Being sexual orientation has no bearing on ability to serve in the military. In fact the Spartans (of ancient Greece) were one of the most feared militaries of all time and the majority of the soldiers were homosexual/bisexual. The Spartans found that the soldiers fought harder for one another because they shared a bond and would lay down their lives for a fellow soldier to live. If a loved one died on the battlefield, the soldiers would fight even harder to avenge their death. So my conclusion is that homosexual people are actually better fit to serve than heterosexual people and that we should have a whole elite homsexual part of the army that would be modern day Spartans and would be feared as the best fighters in the world. I would join it even if I had to lie and say I was homosexual even though I am Bi!

I confessed my feelings for my gay male friend because I am in love with him. I KNEW he wouldn't tell me that he felt the same but love is love and I couldn't deny it any longer.I told him face to face... he just said that someday I will find someone and reminded me he was gay. Well, I wrote him an e-mail to further express how I felt because I had to ( if you only knew what was going on in my head ) and wrote it as soon as I left his house - figured it would be my last chance to really tell him how I felt. I know that he is gay, I don't need to be reminded.
But now I am waiting for him to respond, as he said he would - but told me he needed time.
My question is,
if you were him in this situation, how long would it take you to respond? why would it take you time to respond?
It's been a week now... and we've talked once during the past week.

My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. I got tickets to a concerts he's really excited to see and has wanted to go to since it was announced as an anniversary gift. I gave it to him in a card in his suitcase, since he had to travel for work on our anniversary. In return, I got nothing. He didn't get me a card. He didn't get me a gift. The only thing he really felt like doing to celebrate was to make dinner together at home.

I kinda feel hurt that he didn't take the time to do anything. I'm not saying I wanted anything special...just something to show he thought about the date...

Am I being too harsh?
