and this applies to most of my friends of my generation. However, these days it is so different. Is it a dying art, the ability to stay married for life. What has gone wrong, perhaps we in some way are to blame.

In my "youth" we counted everything! On the television, we counted the tiny dots. On the telephones, we counted the number of holes in the dial. As we learned the numbers, then we learned the letters that went with them. On the road, we counted cars.
The one thing we were never allowed to count were our FINGERS! There was some sort of a "stigma" that made it embarrasing to use your fingers whilst counting!
Any else remember these things as children?

Bairns going missing, Eastern Europeans showing UK folk how job-searching is done (for, as we know...some have indeed forgotten), and slightly 'foreign' people being rounded up and charged - with one (as we know) being shot dead.
Our penchant for swiftly airing comments and verdicts in this 'free world' are admirable.
But wait...would we be as harsh to others on here if we were part of the media stories spread on populist front pages?

I would say that 90-95% of the American Indians that I've seen, are overweight: indeed, a lot are obese.

I live in Reno/Sparks, Nevada; and there are colonies of them here. And I don't mean to imply that they aren't nice peopel, because most of them are.

But they are nearly all overwieht. Why is this? Genetic? Is that possible?

Can anyone give me a good, rational explanation for this phenomenon?

A very curious,

Wotan

Why do black people in america wear clothing that is too large, so its really baggy. For example, short sleeve shirts that are so big. they hang to the knees.
Is it because they want to look like they are in a gang?

Maybe it's true that life begins at fifty.
But everything else starts to
wear out, fall out, or spread out.

There are three signs of old age.
The first is your loss of memory,
the other two I forget.

You're getting old when
you don't care where your spouse goes,
just as long as you don't have to go along.

Middle age is when work is a lot less fun
and fun a lot more work.

Statistics show that at the age of seventy,
there are five women to every man.
Isn't that the darndest time for a guy to get those odds?

You know you're getting on in years
when the girls at the office start confiding in you.

Middle age is when it takes longer to rest than to get tired.

By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step,
he's too old to go anywhere.

Middle age is when
you have stopped growing at both ends,
and have begun to grow in the middle.

Of course I'm against sin;
I'm against anything that I'm too old to enjoy.

A man has reached middle age
when he is cautioned to slow down by his doctor
instead of by the police.

Middle age is having a choice of two temptations
and choosing the one that will get you home earlier.

You know you're into middle age when
you realize that caution is the only thing
you care to exercise.

At my age, "getting a little action" means
I don't need to take a laxative.

Don't worry about avoiding temptation.
As you grow older, it will avoid you.

The aging process could be slowed down
if it had to work its way through Congress.

You're getting old when
getting lucky means
you find your car in the parking lot.

You're getting old when
you're sitting in a rocker
and you can't get it started.

You're getting old when
your wife gives up sex for Lent,
and you don't know until the 4th of July.

You're getting old when
you wake up with that morning-after feeling,
and you didn't do anything the night before.

The cardiologist's diet:
if it tastes good, spit it out.

Doctor to patient: I have good news and bad news:
the good news is that you are not a hypochondriac.

It's hard to be nostalgic
when you can't remember anything.

You know you're getting old when
you stop buying green bananas.

Last Will and Testament:
Being of sound mind, I spent all my money.

I mean, I had an uncle that was deformed from birth and my dad did construction for years and had 3 back surgeries. That kind of stuff i understand. Even temp disability, because that shows that you WANT to get back into the workforce. But I know one person who gets disability for headaches. Another two for learning disabilities, even though they have shown they could do labor-intensive work. These people are the dregs on society, because they are happy to waste away their life and let the taxpayers give them much more than they ever put INTO the system.

I thought that gays and lesbians would be close in energy, but they seem very different. you go to a bar and it looks like a 5th grade prom. (boys and girls on opposite ends). Not much mixing or frendship. I feel the brains are wired differently, even though we are attracted to the same sex. Does anyone understand me? anyone know what this is?

Have religious Americans any right to criticize Muslims when the difference is just a matter of degree? The healthy relaxed safe beaches of Australia, Brazil and Europe, to name a few, confirm the backwardness of Americans who feel so ashamed of their own bodies.
The sad fact is that most of those who answer here
have never been to a nude beach and don't know what they are talking about.
