or unemployed in the story lines? Instead of everyone being rich and educated with beautiful homes and cars, etc.?

Isn't that the truth? TV usually shows wealthy people except Lifetime for women. On occasion you will see a down and out mom with a family to take care of minus a husband.

I've been there with the wealth and cars and believe me money does not buy happiness. I'm finding myself by living alone in an apartment and it's one of the best moves I've made.

If it has a good story line or a thriller that holds my attention I will watch anything.

I think I already have to some extent in the past. If they are
done with some humor to counter balance the poverty aspect
then I could watch. But I'm not into TV much anymore. If I
do watch, it is in the morning with a local show and then maybe I'll watch a little Regis and Kelly, depending who's on.
I don't do daytime tv, even when there's someone special
I want to see. Why? Because I'm usually on the computer and
I forget what time it is LOL.
I don't have any favorites on tv right now, tho I will watch
Dancing with the Stars. So it has to be an old movie I'd like to
see, and basically that's about it.
I don't care for movies of the rich and famous anymore. I
got my fill of Dynasty and Dallas. And I didn't watch the spin
offs from Dallas either. If I wasn't on the computer, then I
think I'd be reading more. I have a book I'm trying to finish
now to return to the library.
So on the whole, I think a series with a premise as you
suggest, would really not be an attraction for me. As there
is already too much struggling in my daily life to invite more
even on a superficial level. I prefer a comedy to take me
away from all of this, actually. I sure don't need a reminder!

Hard question...first of all I watch little TV, and usually movies, or talk shows. I don't think I would that much because the world around me is so full of this already that I find it hard to deal with. I will watch a movie like Blood Diamond and learn from it. I don't watch programs where everyone is rich, educated with beautiful stuff....reminds me too much of "Dallas" too unbelievable, and down right disgusting. I think this society is just way to into more more more...it is sad. I will occasionally watch movies from by gone eras like the 30's dust bowl depression, or the WWII movies. A lot of poverty back then, but it wasn't just a different time, it was a different world as the singer says.!

I don't watch any of those shows that are on now. Have you noticed on daytime soaps the people are all beautiful or handsome? That is not real. The only show I've watched that reflected real life was Coronation Street but I had to quit watching that because the story lines just got too far -fetched for my liking. Give me The Antique Road Shows any day of the week.

There have been a few shows that show people struggling financially-Roseanne comes to mind-but they are definitely the minority. I think we watch tv to escape so we probably would not watch if the people were ugly, or unhappy or poor or whatever.

Yes, I have watched many sitcoms through the years where people were struggling financially. I like watch different types of shows and the folks they portray.

Yes, they should show real life, not a dream life and way to live. We don't live the way the people do on the TV shows or dress the same. It is like a different world they are impersonating. I wish they would show it as real life is.===

I´ve been below the poverty line in my life. I used to have massive debts but I worked myself out of it all. I´m now retired early. When I see programs like that I feel for everybody because I´ve been there. I don´t feel shame because I made it, you have got to experience it to understand it.

I never lived in a make believe world so they can show what they want. Most of us can relate with struggling and money problems
