Why do black people in america wear clothing that is too large, so its really baggy. For example, short sleeve shirts that are so big. they hang to the knees.
Is it because they want to look like they are in a gang?

"I have seen a lot of black men who wear really baggy clothes. Can someone explain the appeal of this style?"

It looks uncomfortable and not very practical. And every black person when I visited america was dressed like that.

It's sad how ignorant the people above me are. I thought we had come futher than that. It's a shame to see how many of you still judge an entire race of people on some stupid stereotype.

This is not some Black phenomenon. Black, White and all kinds of teenaged boys across America wear baggy shirts. To say this is a Black thing is just showing how limited you are socially and mentally.

Not all Black people dress like this. On Fresh Prince, isn't Carlton Black? He always dresses like a preppy, so not true. Some Hispanics,Asians, and White dress with baggy clothes. Having tight fitting clothes on is uncomfortable. Why would haing loose fitting clothes on be uncomfortable? That doesn't make any sense. Dress how you would like, you would be surprise on how much money some people spend to have certain clothes. Stop judging. You should make up a survey and go ask each person out in public why they wear baggy pants. Some kids in middle school dress like that. God Bless! :)

This is actually an interesting question [to which I don't have an answer], but there's something terribly wrong with it. If any baggy-clothing wearing black person sees this question, they also have to read your assessment of it, which is that they look stupid. That's offensive, so they probably wouldn't give you a straight answer, which makes this question a waste of time.

Nobody cares whether you think it looks stupid or not. You might get an answer if you could phrase your questions with a higher-than 7th grade attitude. For example:

"I have seen a lot of black men who wear really baggy clothes. Can someone explain the appeal of this style?"

The same reason that some people wear tight clothes! Because they can and they want to. Just because you think it looks stupid doesn't mean everyone else does. They look just fine to me. Worry about your clothes not everyone else's!

But all of the white, asian, and latino guys in really big oversized shirts look cool by comparison? All the little bastards under the age of 25 dress exactly the same. What difference does color make?

It is how a person, regardless of color, chooses to dress. I see some people who wear really tight clothing and you can see their privates.

Media, They see it on MTV so it must be cool. I often wonder why white kids do the same but really it's the same answer I suppose.
I hate the fact that I have to agree with Sargent, Why the heck do white men wear sandals? I sure don't but I do see many that do. Bugs the heck outta me really.

Don't you mean SOME black people. And what's it to you? If they're wearing clothes too big for them that's their business. That's their personal style.

I'm a "black dude," and I don't dress that way...so I guess I can't help you with this one. Be careful about stereotyping people. It could get you in real trouble one day......
