God never promised a bed of roses, so to speak. It's how we react to life's woes that counts, not what happens. I rejoice in others blessings and praise God for mine. We're never so bad off that it couldn't be worse. If you count your blessings instead of your woes, you won't have time to complain. Now, that got me jacked up just writing it. lol

I think we often make the wrong choices as to which path to
follow. I know at one time I had several boyfriends wanting me
to marry them. And it wasn't something I could deal with and
left to join the army. I was running away from other things I
suppose, and I also wanted to see things outside of the
country.
I ended up marrying several months later when I found my
soul mate. I and 45 years later, I am in a position, I never
dreamed I'd be in at this age. So now I wonder did I make
the right choice back then?
I also had a chance to walk into a job, and I wasn't able to
find someone to care for my preschool children. Maybe if I'd
have looked a little harder, I'd still be working for that company and hadn't been a stay at home mom most of the
time.
Maybe if I hadn't gone into the service, I would not have
continued to smoke. And be in the ill health I am in today.
Or maybe had I been more into athletics, I would be not
diabetic and overweight.
There are all too many choices we can make that end up
ruining our lives. Or at least in mine.
I wonder about people who are so lucky in everything they
touch. How they can build fortunes with very little money but
somehow alot of know how and chutzpah.
I could have been predisposed on the health issues, since
my father had the same things wrong before he died. But
had I had foresight, perhaps I'd have made different choices
to keep myself healthier. But all of that, is water under the
bridge. And I do only what I can, when I can.
That was a very good question, and one I've thought alot
about over my lifetime.

Sometimes circumstances are out of people's control like the environment they are born into. As we get older our outlook on life and our choices help to shape our life. Even so, there can be setbacks such as health issues and other things that may make life harder on some.

We live in a fallen world. We have free will and often we chose the wrong things and so their are natural consequences for that. For example: if you smoke you might get cancer. If you have sex you might get an STD. There are reasons why God gave us rules. Some terrible things happen to people who truly love God, in these cases I believe it is Satan who is doing it to test our faith.Remember Job? God allows this as this is Satan's time to rule the earth, and God wants us to chose to love him not make us love him.
The great thing is that those who suffer the most here are given the most in Heaven, the New Earth, and the New City.

If you find the answer to that question - let us know. It reminds me of a George Jones song "Choices". He sings that his life has been determined by the choices he made. And that is the truth. However, health we have some but not a lot of control over. I did not choose to have a stroke at 44 and ailments as a result of that. But I did choose to recover quickly and keep my spirits up.

I think sometimes we make things happen in life and sometimes they just happen. Even if you do the best you can and take care of yourself and those you love, life can still be difficult. We can't always keep the hard times from coming, but we can choose how we deal with them. That can make all the difference in moving forward through the tough times.

thats just the way the hands are dealt. Some of us can sail through life with enough money not to worry about bills, some are healthy almost all thru life, able to go on vacations, and walk distances, and some of us have major medical problems even in our forties and it just keeps getting worse as we age,I guess its the genes. If you have good solid genes you live long and healthy, if you have bad genes, you have diabetes, heart disease, arthritis,MS, cancer, etc., and you then pass those along to your kids.

My philosophy is "No one (that lives very long) gets out of this life unscathed."
Some hardship is avoidable but It rains on the just
and the unjust.

Why not? I mean- WHY should it be Otherwise??! THINK about it; How MANY "level playing fields" in life can you name??? Is it "unfair" that some of us are Short? Black? Fat? Poor? Not-Too-Bright? Unattractive? Unlucky? -&, or Whatever??? I believe we ALL "represent" one of the colors Of "the Rainbow of Life..." And whatever Our "color" IS- THAT is the one WE have to make the MOST of. MANY of the difficulties people face in life- are of their OWN choosing. And if You choose NOT to make "Lemonade" out of the misfortunes that befall you- then the "Lemons" are what you're stuck with... :)
