I just need to understand this better. What does the term African American mean exactly? Why do you prefer that over being called black or or just american? I was born here in the states-german descent but I go by white-not german american. can you explain this and what term do you prefer the most for us to use that gives the most respect to you? I am not trying to be racist. I am trying to undertand and really want to show respect the way it needs to be shown so I don't look like an idiot and you are not offended?

Racism has been around for a long time.If racism was completely irradicated("Imposible") right this very second and hate was gone from both sides the racists and the recievers,white on black or black on white or any combonation.
If that instantly happened do you think black's would do better in this country? Would we see a change in the majority?
Without racism as an obstical would all popular black culture move on in majority into a positve direction?
Would there percentage of inmates drop,testing standards rise? If racism was removed would blacks 1.worsen 2.stay the same 3.improve but slightly 4.drasticaly improve. I just want to see how much racism is realy a barrier,although it's bad if it's the one true defining hinderance to american black culture

My roommate told me that she thought I was snobbish just because I am shy, until she started talking to me then she thought TOTALLY OPPOSITE.

Why do people assume this. I've always wondered why when people see me they automatically assume I'm a snob? My co-worker told me that people where telling her that they think I'm stuck up, WHY? Is there like a certain look or something, I don't know.

It's funny how people are surprised when I tell people off to their face or anything, if they are mistreating me, I will not hesitate to tell you in your face, I'm quiet but blunt.

Ok, you will all know my age now. I remember when me and my best friend used to turn on

and the "boogie woogie blues"
and we learned to do the

When I told my grandmother I wasn't an African American at the dinner table I was nearly slapped she got so mad. But what I consider myself is a Black American. My ancestors may have been from Africa, but I am not, nor has anyone in my family for many many generations. I have some friends who are "straight out of Africa" and they get offended when a Black American calls themselves an African American because they aren't. Then you have to consider all the scholarships and other things out there for "African Americans", do they mean all people with brown skin or all African Americans because there are a lot of white Africans who have come to this country to live. Isn't Charlize Theron an African American? Wouldn't a white African American be just as qualified for these things as black African Americans? I think we need to change the term from African American to Black American, or better yet, just American!
