People in power have no idea what Hinduism is and this is evident in their policy making.

The caste system is a grossly misunderstood concept and is prevalent in its current form only because of unscrupulous, egoistic Brahmin priests who preach false interpretations of the Vedas regarding what it says about social classification of people. This was and is still being done by them to feed their egos and for material gain.

It may take another 100 years at least before major changes are made to Government policy and Hindu society by which time there hopefully will be no hardcore fanatics left to hinder the progress of the people.

Until then, these "flaws" will remain.

By the way, not just Hindu society, but all societies have different problems that ultimately are due to a misunderstanding of religion.
