Yesterday I received my Marie Claire issue and there is a six page story on "Erasing Ethnicity." The stories were informative and surprising. I was surprised to read that many people around the world, specially women, believe that white/western features are more beautiful.

I believe you should embrace who you are. Be proud of your ethnicity. Be proud of the shape of your eyes, your lips, hair, body, eye color and skin color.

I am a regular black guy. I dress wearing dockers and button down polo shirts on most days. Clean cut and positve and productive. I don't think black woman are attracted to me. I try to talk to them(normal conversation) I think they think I am a nerd or something. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

59 years old on disability for 1 year.
wants to return to work
can make $26appx. hour at medically trained career job. I get job offers all the time.
My full retirement isn't until 67 years old.
I have heard many diffferant things that I should stay on disability and some say go back to work!
I miss my 37 years of work! my profession!
I think I maybe able to go back part time!
Full time might be a bit too much for me!
but I'm bored at this disability thing
I want to know financially the status how is that?
when I turn 67 will I just get what I am getting now in disabillity but it will be social security payments? or it will be more since I will have worked more and put more into it? or they go by your 10 best years??
can someone give me some insight on this before I take the plundge into doing some part time work??

With all the trouble in heterosexual marriages, would you still consider marriage, or just live together. Do you want the right to marry for the benefits, or just because it would validate the relationship? I am not gay, but I am all for gay marriage. I don't see how two people loving each other is wrong, or why you all can't marry. Any serious answers are welcome-or non serious, either way.

I visited Gettysburg, PA and walked along the battlefields. I could not believe I was actually standing in a place where a war took place. I also, visited George Washington's home in Mt. Vernon, VA. Totally awesome feeling.

They are both in their twenties....i have told her to get the police involved next time he thumps and pushes her about.....but she says that she has threatened to call the police but he reckons that he can say that she is a gay hater and they won't prosecute him or anything .....is this in any way true

This dates back even to slavery. The light-skinned slaves worked in the house while the dark-skinned slaves labored out in the fields. People paint this picture as if your dark your ugly and if your light your pretty. I'm not saying all people are like that even though it is evident sometimes within the black race. You know there was this old saying: "If your white your alright, If your brown stick around, but if your black stay back." I know that I am beautiful regardless of my skin-tone but sometimes I do feel insecure about having a darker skin tone. Anyways, what is your opinions? Do some of you who are dark-skinned African Americans sometimes feel this way?
