I have recently returned from Canada and they have a bill called the c-250 which is currently being debated in their parliament which will stop people quoting the bible in their ciritcism of homosexuality as this will be an seen as quoting hate literature and therefore a criminal offence. Do you think this is a good thing or should we just try and persuade the religious groups to accept us.

This stupid yahoo user by name"presariomario"has been posting several rude and nasty comments about black people. Just recently he posted a topic, "is the black violence spreading into your community" when he knows very well that he's just some dumb idiot making up malicious lies about black poeple for no reason. I advise everyone to check out his that topic and see what kind of lowlife he is. Why would he be doing something like that???

My sister came out to me about five years ago and I'm really the only one in my family who is accepts it. My dad just kind of ignores it and doesn't really accept her relationships. My mom outright tells her she thinks it is wrong, blah blah blah. I just had a daughter and I am leaving custody of her to my sister in my will (I feel like she has all of the same values I do, and is a much stronger person, someone who will be a great influence on my daughter if anything should happen to myself and my husband.) But I feel so bad for my sister, I know I can never understand what she is going through. She recently ended her relationship with her partner (of about five years) and she keeps talking about having kids and how she doesn't think she can. She's even mentioned that she might start dating guys. I know her well, and I know this isn't her. I don't want to overstep my boundaries, so I try to encourage her and tell her she can have kids without a significant other of either sex.

I see comments like "American accents are nasal" or "they overpronounce their rs" and"they sound stupid". I am just curious of how the American accent sounds to others without the insults. I will focus on the accent news reporters speak in, because I speak with the same accent. And I would also like to point out that as much as I like English accents, most of them sound as if they have something in their mouth. Seriously. I tried speaking in my normal accent with my fingers in my mouth, and it sounded kind of British. Just an observation, no worries!!!

I've heard this stereotype from a lot of different people. I understand that some do have extremely bad attitudes, but why do people assume that all Black women do? I'm sure these same people have encountered women of other ethnicites who display similar attitudes.

TOKYO - Japan has returned to using the prewar name for the island of Iwo Jima — site of one of World War II's most horrific battles — at the urging of its original inhabitants, who want to reclaim an identity they say has been hijacked by high-profile movies like Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima."

The new name, Iwo To, was adopted Monday by the Japanese Geographical Survey Institute in consultation with Japan's coast guard.

Ok So there is this guy i work with. And i am in the closet but i think he is too. I mean when i first started working with him i just thought he was shy and we would always be touching on accident and i would catch him staring and i would stare. And he even gave me some of his favorite music to put on my ipod. But he doesn't really talk to girls but he says and( he only told me this) that certain girls arent' easy to talk to. But occasionally he would remark that some girl is hot. But i just think he is saying that. But when another girl worked with us and i was talking to her all day (and i was only doing that so she wouldn't think i was gay) he said after she left that he felt i was ignoring him which just made me so happy cuz i thought maybe he does like me but i am not sure. Is there a certain test i can do to see if he really likes me PLEASE I REALLY LIKE HIM! Plus he leaves after this summer so i am unsure if i should risk telling him how i feel.

DNA testing has shown that Ashkenazi Jews are ethnically Middle Eastern. So why do they look so much more like Northern Europeans than do Sephardic Jews and other Middle Easterners?

I've come across A LOT of comments on Black women's hair. I'm a Black woman so I'm going to speak on it and would appreciate feedback from people, Black, White, or otherwise.

Point blank, we live in a country that tells us that the standard of beauty is Eurocentric. Many people of color, grow up thinking their brown skin or kinky hair is "unmanageable," "un professional," "ugly." They believe this because WAY back in slavery times, this was put in the head of our ancestors. Then, a Black woman invented the perm so Black women (and men back then) could "manage" their unruly hair.

Unfortunately, many sisters still believe this myth, that natural hair is unattractive, hard to manage and can't be worn at work. These are all lies. The brainwashing has been passed down from generation to generation. If you want to perm your hair, fine more power to you, but do it cause you want to, not to rationalize by saying otherwise your "nappy" hair can't be managed cause thats bullsh*t.

We are going to pride in Seattle this weekend and want to take my partner's little brothers, they are 7 year old twins. They recognize our relationship and dont really think about it much because she is their sister and they just accept whatever she says. Pride is always somewhat family oriented, and people bring kids all the time. The parade is televised so they are very strict in enforcing clothing and conduct rules.
What pro's and con's do you see to taking children to a pride celebration? I feel like at this point they may ask some questions for sure, but i'd rather them be curious now than not be exposed to it and turn out to be homophobic and vile 10 years down the road....
