Do people actually believe that all Black women have bad attitudes?

I've heard this stereotype from a lot of different people. I understand that some do have extremely bad attitudes, but why do people assume that all Black women do? I'm sure these same people have encountered women of other ethnicites who display similar attitudes.

I believe that some have these loud angry attitudes because of their environment and socioeconomic status not because of skin color.

It's pure racism when someone says things like that. Even if it can be defended as a way of saying their opinion or preference. The fact is, no race is prettier, sexier or any of the sort. Why? Because preference is just a matter of opinion. Those things that you quoted are truly mass stereotypes and over-exaggerations of something someone had painted into their own mind. Who are people to judge? Who are they? They're most likely a sad human who has a pitiful life. Let's see how they look, how much money they have and how 'great' their life is. Just looking around this forum for a few minutes and you see someone say that the white women are the most beautiful. Obviously someone either loves themselves a little too much, they haven't looked in the mirror lately, or they themselves are envious of white women and therefore put them on a pedestal . At this rate a repeat of world war 2 is going to happen if people are really going to be so stupid as to be so closed minded.

Suppose you were in a subway with ten black women, and one of them was being very loud and obnoxious. You're likely going to remember the loud one, and not even notice the rest. I think this is why the stereotype is so prevalent-because the very characteristics of the stereotype make the person more noticeable. You might pass three dozen black women on the street who are minding their own business, but the one who is yelling into her cell phone is the only one you really notice. So you think "The only black woman I saw today was yelling into her cell phone." Its a problem with people's perceptions, and the fact that people really just don't pay enough attention. But no, its absolutely untrue. Some of the meekest, mousiest girls I know are black, and all the worst-behaved women I know are white.

truly believe it has nothing to do with color. Theres good and bad in every race as i have encountered over the years in school and in work. I do believe that rather their black or white, yellow, pink or green etc. that the environment they grew up in has alot to do with how they are today along with how they have been treated throughout the years but i do not believe that blacks are worse than anyone else. Now i must say that i agree with those guys who think your pretty. I find you to be absolutely gorgeous!!

I think people think that because the ones that are loud & giving lots of attitude, stand out more than the more quiet and respectable ones.
So when you're loud & making a scene, ignorant people are gonna remember that and assume that the whole race is the same.
That's how I see it.

Those attitudes towards Black women are as old as America. It's a good way to gage the time it takes for societies to REALLY change. Not saying that some Black women don't have attitudes, ALL women of all ethnicities have different types of women, with different attitudes. It's just a trend to portray Black women in a particular way...as American as apple pie!

umm at my school anyway girls are prided on having an attitude and getting up in peoples faces, it is evenly black and Latina girls not just black girls...some white girls try to do it too but they just aren't as 'aggressive' for some reason, they get scared too easily. But I have noticed a lot of black and Latina girls do have the attitude. It's to make them think they're strong and in control of others.

In fact in my cadet corp i have black female sargent in my cadet who gets criticized because she doesn't know how to speak loud when we she is assighned the task of drilling for DNC. We have messed up in DNC because while my friend was singing a cadence song we could not hear her because she commands way too low. Shes smart but shes a very calm person thats why though.

I believe that you have the answer in your question, stereotyping. It is an uninformed person who stereotypes, and stereotypes sometime pass to others. You can see this stereotype on the television, and listen to it on the radio, perhaps it is time to have an even more diverse group of people on these.

i have a lot of black friends and a lot of other people think they got bad attitudes..but maybe its just cause a lot of ppl arent around black girls, or when they click on somebody and they see how they act when they do that they think thats how they all act all the time..idk y ppl think that all black girls got bad attitudes but not all of um do

I am black and I dont have an attitude all the time.....jus like most people. If you piss me off or try to take advantage of me, then you will get what you are looking for.....just like most people.
