Are there drop-box or pick-up locations around the city for Goodwill, Salvation Army, or any other charity? Thanks for your help.

Like most it was during my student years that I discovered the wonders of charity shops.
Over the years I've brought a huge amount from them but they seem to be getting more expensive. I used to buy a lot of my books from them, at 50p ago I would think nothing of reading the book and then giving it back to the charity shop to resell. I now struggle to find any book under £2 in them so tend to use the library instead.
But what really gets me is that they have all these books at what I think is silly prices, and then when I turned up at a charity shop a couple of weeks ago with two boxes of books, I was told they weren't accepting book donations as they had too many!!!!!
Surely common sense shold tell them that if they lowered the prices slightly they would increase sales, therefore allowing more room for further book donation which would result in more sale and higher revenue.
Is it me? Am I being an old stinge or has common sense lost the plot here?

It seems like Rotary clubs are filled with members who tend to be old men. I know that there are women and younger people involved, too, but most clubs in my area consist primarily of older men. What are you doing to recruit new, younger people to be Rotarians? I would like to join, but I can't find a club with young professionals like myself. I feel way too young to relate to these folks. It's a drawback.

I previously asked this question, but I accidentally put it up for voting, so I'm asking it again

I really want to reach out to the deaf community. Do any of you have any ideas on how I can really make an impact? I dont just want to help out at a deaf school, but I want to make an IMPACT. I live near the American School for the Deaf in CT.

Additional details:

In response to the long answer, I recently met a deaf person, a son of someone who works with my mom, and he's around my age. I don't know why, but talking with him, with his mom as a translator, and seeing how happy he was (I didn't expect a deaf perosn to still be so happy in life) just made me want to do something. That's why I want to do something. And what I had in mind was making a difference in deaf peoples' lives. I obviously am not going to find a cure for deafness soon, but maybe helping them out in some way. That's why I asked this question, I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to help them out.

One solution could be: All the Hotels and Restaurants in metro cities can contribute the left-over food each day for the Govt. trucks to carry and distribute it to homes designated for beggars.
Is this feasible?

Any other options ?
