What is prison cafeteria food like?

A little better than the Army cafeteria food.

I have seen their kitchen and cafeteria in two different states, San Fran, and Michigan. Simple, basic food, they don't seem to mind the food much, it is their inability to get out, and being tolled to when and how long they can have their meal is their major concern, not what is on the menu.

Its AWFUL. Its just mush, for the most part, with frozen vegetables on the side. The food is of such bad quality that often the bread is moldy, the meat is beginning to rot, and the fruits and vegetables are pureed in order to hide what they actually look like. The only thing worse than prison food is guard food. Most guards eat the prisoner's food, because they know what prisoners (who do the cooking,) do to food intended for CAs. Ew, ew, ew. I've spent entire days in jails (talking to prisoners, not AS a prisoner,) and I just stay hungry. No way I'm eating that.

It is like gruel the cheapest worse food you can imagine. My son was in prison and in the morning he got cold "hot" cereal if that a stale muffin or roll, lunch a baloney sandwich 1 slice of baloney and stale bread and supper quite often would be slop mixed together of whatever did not get used up that day or the day before.
Make matters worse it cramps up your insides and screws up your bowels too.
