It seems like Rotary clubs are filled with members who tend to be old men. I know that there are women and younger people involved, too, but most clubs in my area consist primarily of older men. What are you doing to recruit new, younger people to be Rotarians? I would like to join, but I can't find a club with young professionals like myself. I feel way too young to relate to these folks. It's a drawback.

Each Rotary chapter tends to exercise their own creativity in recruiting new members. As a woman, I was brought on board during just such an outreach. I knew a member very active in my community and asked him to sponsor me into his chapter that worked in an impoverished community.

I agree that organizations such as the Rotary needs diverse members to be truly effective but your approach could gain you resistance. I suggest you lose the "tude" about "old men" and evaluate just how mature you are if you are thinking you are "way too young to relate to these folks". These "folks" most often are highly successful in their careers and contribute a great deal of their personal resources to their charitable works... maybe you should consider another approach to community service.
