I suggest a few avenues you might want to check out.

1.) If you like animals volunteer at a local shelter or rescue center, you will see a lot of sad things "abandoned animals" and all but the rewards are tremendous.

2.) If you like people then try a non profit in your area, perhaps you could tutor underprivileged kids, work with the mentally disabled or ill adults or children. This is also a place where you will see some sad things however again the rewards are two fold and you might find yourself in a place that gives back more then it takes.

3.) If none of these sound appealing then try the local library, senior center, police department places like that are often looking for volunteers to do more secretarial business type work.

Good Luck and don't be closed to anything .................you may just find you niche/passion in life ...............like I did!

A simple trash pick up! U can o as far as just ur school campus or take it our into the community. A club Im involved on school campus did that and it really does make an impact! People do notice

Collecting peanut butter and jelly. It is good for a very long period of time without being kept cool. It is great to donate to an after-school program for needy kids. You can find them anywhere.

One where the voices of everyone concerned(children inc.) are heard, good planning is implemented, resources (inc. human resources)meassured and proper evaluation systems put in place consistently. Ah, and management's transparency and respect for service users is essential

Victory Boxes - sending boxes of materials to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for them to give to the local people to help foster good relations.

Get a group together and clean and paint the houses of some elderly folks in your town.

you may want to possibly volunteer on the seinor midsection on your city. even as i became a freshman my heritage class did some component with them and all of us were given community provider for doing it

food and clothes drive to help your local food pantrys like the salvation army and churches and comunity centers that help needy families in the area in which you live

Anything that teaches reading and literacy, especially to adults who never really learned to read.
