I was recently released from my job due to cutbacks here in Houston, TX. THanksgiving and Christmas is coming and I was wondering does anyone know where I can get assistance in providing some food for my children and possibly gifts. At this point I am desperate and willing to accept any help I can get. It would break my heart if I had to let my children know that I cannot provide for them. Thanks

Now that the holiday season is gearing up, so are the charities asking for money. There are so many people who need help and have so little.

What are some charities you give to during the holiday season or all year round?

So for out club at school, we were planning a benefit concert with some local bands, but we can't agree on who to donate the money to. We want to help out a cause that most people don't know about. Darfur, AIDS and breast cancer are all good causes, but so many people donate to them, we want to find a cause that doesn't get as much attention.

I will be participating in a missions trip with Samaritan's Feet to Cape Town South Africa, as a "Shoe of Hope Mission Ambassador"' ministering to children and adults in villages and shanty settlements across the western region of Cape Town, Where HIV/AIDS is one o f the leading causes of death. It is a place were helping hands are very much needed. Without your assistance it will be impossilbe to go , but with your assistance together we can make a change. Atleast now I request people who r getting Lottery spams should understand that no where in the world u can tranfer huge ammount without the knowledge of their so called Reserve banks. Please write to the lottery people to give their particulars about registration No. etc. and scold them write nastiest letters to fight them back. the spammers should know that it is not easy to cheat people. I don't give to charities even at Christmas time. Years ago I was homeless by no reason of my own. All the charities except the city mission, would not give me any help at all. Now that I have money and a job, I would not give to charities at all. They really turned me off to giving even at Christmas time.

My question is, am i terrible for not wanting to give to local charities?

ok so this year i have decided to collect money from around my neighborhood and at school for the poor for christmas i have been around poor people at christmas and its not very pleasant..i know how they feel and what their going through i too was in their shoes once and i went through some hard stuff growing up so this year at least what i can do is to give a little back so with the money we'll buy blankets and jackets clothing shoes toys for the kids etc...so does this sound like an ok idea i really want to help..do you think people will give money their are a lot of stingy people out there so im hoping for the best
