Hard to tell. It may have been a genuine impulse, but what's interesting is who is actually going to be caring for this child. She didn't bring it home to England. She won't be changing diapers and spooning pablum into his mouth. She won't even be talking to him, because he doesn't know English and she doesn't speak his language. It's also interesting that she says he will return at intervals to visit his father, but he'll be speaking English by then, and won't even understand his father's language. Or the customs of the country. Or know any of his relatives.
I think for the money Madonna has spent, she would have been better off to give some direct support to the orphanage so that David, and a hundred other children, could have a better life.

I'm going to disagree and say that she actually cares about the lives of children, she has the money to provide a better life for that child then his father can, but then it asks a new question, can money buy love, a fathers love would definitely be stronger then a love money can buy, i believe that she feels she is doing the right thing. I would suggest she put money into the child's community rather then adopting 1 child.

I reckon she thought it would be a good idea without really thinking too much about reaction.
Im sure she regrets doing it now.
She will care financially for the child without doubt however as we all know love is what we want and need 24/7.

From what I understand, she gives loads of money to orphanages every year and was over there touring the orphanages to see what they needed. She was brought to an orphanage she was unaware of and saw that little boy. That child was dropped off there by his father, the only reason he is saying anything now is because he thinks he will be paid off to shut up.

She's no different than O.J.. Just has to have the media attention because she's been career dead for years & now they're both doing their best to prove they're brain dead. Now there's something I'd wanna be: Adopted by a ugly Italian bleach blonde has been who can't decide which religion she wants to be & who now thinks she's British Royalty. Give me a break!!!
Give the kid a half a mil & let him grow up in his own culture with his biological father.

I think its the publicity, because what else has she done with herself the last few years that is getting her this much attention!

well, being it all bad publicity, i'd say it was for the child. maybe for the child for the wrong reasons (overly enlightened hippie bs), but not for the publicity, i believe.

I think that she really cares about her new child. If she didn't, she would be making a bigger stink about the kid. Because she was so secretive about it, it pretty much screams that she didn't mean for it to get so crazy with the media.
