The kids are old enough to understand small presents, anyway they are teens, send 'em out to work!...;

£1000?!!! What do they need that cost £1000? Last time I checked you could get a good pair of socks for less than £4 and a satsuma for 30p- put those in a stocking bought from the £1 shop, throw in a £20 voucher for phone credit and voila! suitable Christmas presents coming in at £25.30 each.

Seriously there are cheaper alternatives and if they're teenagers they should be old enough to understand that money's tight.

Yeah I took that kinda seriously but come on... ONE THOUSAND POUNDS?!

If there is no way in which you or your teenagers can earn any money for Christmas why not exchange with one another a hand-made gift token promising to do something special for one another or to help out when there is a need. This way none of you will need to spend any money. Another alternative is to wrap up fun stuff and its surprising what you can get from Poundshops and the like - I know cos I often have to get bit n bobs from them for gifts as on a very small budget hence not in a position to donate £1000 to you.

Hope the suggestions help and Happy Christmas.

Christmas is all about money, we had our happiest Christmases when we were broke.Small gifts and spending the day together is all that you need learn your teenagers to appreciate family and quality time together.If you all want material things you will have to work for them and kids will have to do some earning too.

I'm sorry you don't have enough cash for the holidays, I know how tough it can be with 3 kids and no job, but I have great news... I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance.

questions like this do my head in, why not save a few quid each week all year round so at least then you know you got the cash, or start in january, buying one present a month then at least you know that you havn't got to spend a few hundred quid all at once. I had all mine done at the start of september, got to wrap the buggars now though !!

teenagers should understand the true meaning of Christmas and that you can't give them gifts. If not, maybe that's what you should focus on..I know how you feel but if you have your health, food, place to live and LOVE that's better than any gift..
