I have proposed to my family, instead of the adults exchanging gifts, we buy mcdonalds gift certificates(for the amount we set) and hand them out to the homeless downtown under the bridge.I just can't justfiy exchanging gifts with people who have enough already.

I know that some women do this, but can guys shave their heads to raise money for cancer research? Has anyone done this before? If guys can do it, do they have to have really long hair, like shoulder length, or can it be normal length? Does length even matter, or is it just how much money you raise?

For anyone who's done this (guy or girl), what was it like? Did you get a great sense of fulfillment after you'd done it? How did people react?

Although we join forces to help out the needy in third world countries, I have come to the conclusion that we forget about our neighbors. I feel moved by the Lord to open up a no-charge clothing shop to the public. As I began my research, for my proposal, I found few shops, and the shops I did find have eligibility requirements. So my question is, "What happens to those who need, but are not eligible?" "Who are we to put requirements on those who need?" "Would you rather donate your clothes to a resale shop or a mission shop such as the one I am looking to open?" I would appreciate your feed back answering any or all of my questions. I am doing this action community service project for my American Society class at school. The project is requiered in order to graduate.

Me and my partner want to donate items such as used clothes or glasses to places around the world that are in need of them. We need to know more items that we can donate as well as other places that are in need of donating to the poor. After we donate we have to give a speech with research on places in need to the class.

Any ideas on what else we can donate as well as other places that are in need of donating?

Regarding the recent oil spill, i would like to know...

1)which organizations (environmental, etc) are taking iniciative?
2)is anyone suing the oil transport company or the oil company?
3)how can i help, which organization can i donate money to, or where can i volunteer.

I would really like to donate money $$$ to an organization that is taking iniciative against the oil transport company or the oil company. I think ultimately, its their responsibility, not the coast guards.

I'm Working on a resource Website to help Americans in times of need. Shelter, Food, Homelessness and ect. I've paid for everything on my own so far. Still working on the website. But I'm in need of Funding to help with the cost to gather the information and get the word out about the site and the help avalible and ect. I've heard that with those donation boxes you see in stores, not all the money goes to the charity. I heard that whoever decides to put it there can take a percentage for travel, expenses in getting the box, etc, etc. Is this true? If so what percentage of the profits is the person allowed to take from the box?
