I have proposed to my family, instead of the adults exchanging gifts, we buy mcdonalds gift certificates(for the amount we set) and hand them out to the homeless downtown under the bridge.I just can't justfiy exchanging gifts with people who have enough already.

That's what I was trying to get at, Mike, with my Jaguar questions. Excellent idea! I dunno about McDonald's, specifically.. what about somewhere a little healthier? lol

This is an awesome idea! If the adults are reluctant to give up their gift exchange, then why not draw names amongst everyone and set a dollar amount and then each person also spends x amount of dollars on the gift certificates for the homeless! Wow, this is the true spirit of Christmas!

Excellent idea, sugar! While you're at it, any of those adult who have kids who are minors should watch the homeless receive the certificates and take note of how unfortunate the homeless is, so they'll be more grateful for what they have.
Just a suggestion. Beyonce Knowles in an interview said one of her parents (forgot which one she said) took her as a child to see homeless people and it was an eye opener for her.
Excellent, humbling idea!
Keep up the inspiration, Brother Mike!

Admirable, good for you. Maybe there is a soup kitchen or some other way you could help these people you see. What would be more helpful to someone in need is to find out if there is an underlying problem that keeps them there. Addiction, illness etc... Sometimes all people need is a helping hand or a point in the right direction.
Its nice to read something positive.

If nobody else does this in your family, you do it. It sounds like a great plan, very unselfish, and explain to everyone you usually give gifts to that you gave a gift to the homeless in their honor.
What a noble person you are! I'm glad there are people out there in the world like you. Thank you for being you.

I think its very inspiring Mike. I helped out at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving, and it was the best Thanksgiving of my life.
To give anything, and a food certificate is a great idea would be an awsome thing to do. You have inspired me to continue with anything that will help those who truly need it.
Merry Christmas to you and many Blessings.

That's a great idea. I feel the same way. last year I donated to Heifer International (in my family memebers names)
It felt great to know I was helping a much less fortunate family, yet honoring my own at the same time
