What are the best (most efficient) charities in boston?

Thanks jcravens. By efficient I mean the ratio of admin and fundraising expensed do not exceed about 75 to 80 % of total expenses. I like to see at least 80 cents on each dollar go to help the issue I'd like to help. I've worked with charitynavigator.org, I'll check out guidestar. Thanks again!

Most efficient? What do you mean? As in -- the staff doesn't waste time? That they involve large amounts of volunteers (unpaid staff) and the volunteers feel valued and that their time isn't wasted?

I hope by "efficient" you don't mean a nonprofit that doesn't spend money on rent, utilitities, furniture, equipment, staff salaries, etc. -- because I could call that nonprofit VERY inefficient. Professional staff, a place for service to take place and support all have to be paid for.

Guidestar provides a list of all nonprofit organizations in the USA, and basic financial information about each.
