Lions club takes glasses, they really need them, some of the homeless and some displaced vets need them. Used clothing is wonderful, Goodwill employs people that would not be employable without their training, the sale of the clothing helps these people get back on their feet, also, duing disasters, GoodWill gives people a weeks worth of clothing, furniture, kitchen things and linens and other items necessary after a fire, hurricane, tonado or any natural disaster. Many people cannot afford to shop in malls but they need clothing, some wonderful items are there. The balance of the clothes that are not sold are sent overseas.

For something different and unusual, you could donate used athletic shoes!
Since Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe program began in 1993, they have recycled 20 million pairs of athletic shoes. They accept any brand, not just Nike. They’ve also contributed to more than 250 sport surfaces around the world to provide access to play places for kids as part of their ‘Let me Play’ program. They have recycling processing facilities in the U.S. and Belgium, and collection points in the U.S., Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, the U.K., Japan, and China. Go to http://www.nikebiz.com/responsibility/community_programs/reuse_a_shoe.html to see if there is a collection point near you, and learn more about this amazing program.

Why don't you go down to the City Park in your town and pass them out to the homeless. If you can't find them there go to a homeless shelter during dinner time

i think you should donate right where you live if that is an option for your assignment. call shelters, churches, soup kitchens, thrift stores that are affiliated with churches & shelters, etc... i live in the portland, or area and we have plenty of those here. oh, also alcohol or drug treatment centers?? good luck! if you have to do it for another country, consider Mexico, as they are our neighbors and struggle economically.
