My friend is 61 and mostly retired. He was debating about starting to collect Social Security early at age 62. I know the benefits are less but I heard that they will be recalculated when his wife retires. She earns as much now as he ever did. How does this work?

I've been reading today about how we are to be at peace and full of joy as Christians. Well, my question is this - how do you find God's peace & joy when your life is full of suffering? Sure there are good things to focus on too, but how do you get beyond depression when life is just getting you down?

The new inmate at the mental hospital announced in a loud voice that he was the famous British naval hero, Lord Nelson. This was particularly interesting, because the institution already had a "Lord Nelson."

The head psychiatrist, after due consideration, decided to put the two men in the same room, feeling that the similarity of their delusions might prompt an adjustment in each that would help in curing them. It was a calculated risk, of course, for the two men might react violently to one another, but they were introduced and then left alone and no disturbance was heard from the room that night.

The next morning, the doctor had a talk with his new patient and was more than pleasantly surprised when he was told "Doctor, I've been suffering from a delusion. I know now for a fact that I am not Lord Nelson."

"That's wonderful," said the doctor. "Who are you?"

Smiling coyly, the patient replied, "I'm Lady Nelson."

My dad got laid off at work, we don't have insurance and very little money for Christmas. My parents are putting off their Christmas for me and my older brother. I don't know what to do. We have about 400 dollars for chirstmas which means they're going to spend about $150 on each of us. Some money is going to bills and food. It's not that we can't get presents, it's that they've been buying cigerettes and telling us we don't have any money so we can't do the things we want to. We can't live like normal kids because they're smoking. If I try to stand up to them for me and my bro, they just yell at us. Tell us we're being rude and "it's hard to quit". I know that it is cause I took health last year in school, but jeez, I'm in a lose-lose situation. They're killing themselves and I'm suffering too. I hate inhaling that stuff. It's disgusting.

Is anyone else going to have a sad, awful Christmas this year?

I'm just a teenager girl, 15, that does not go to church, but believes in god, and jesus. I know things about them, but does not know enough like i should. I know like millions of stuff about the world. Atheist, Wicca, Palmistry, Recarnation, Astrology, The Big Bang, Ghosts, Gardian Angels, Spirits, The Dead, Aliens, Sex, Love, Marriage....yeah...a lot of stuff like that.

but, what a girl should do if there is a lot of stuff to believe in. I'm just a curious girl who wants to know the REAL truth about everything.

....sooooo...i had this talk with my uncle. He says the only way to be saved and go to heaven is to be baptizied and accept the lord in your life.

i believe in god, that jesus had died because of our sins, i'm very good, (of course i've have sinned), and...well...i'm not baptized.

he said if you're not baptized, you're just a wondering soul that will not go to the kingdom of the lord.

but some said that you don't have to get baptized in water....etc.

My best friend often stays up until early in the morning and then gets up between 11 and 2, but she takes naps at different times throughout the afternoon and evening (not the same from day to day).

So essentially, there is no way to ensure I won't wake her up when I call. I don't like waking her up and she gets annoyed if I wake her up, but it seems unavoidable. She doesn't work nights and she doesn't have medical problems or insomnia.... I feel like it's rude to sleep during the day and then expect for others not to call you?

Ok, so when I asked this question:
"Why are religious people so afraid?", I was told it's not out of fear, but out of love that they worship god.

Then, when I asked this question:
"Is it wrong to force your love on someone who doesn't want it?", I was told NO, that it's called stalking and you can be arrested for it. Furthermore, "If the recipient can't say "no." They're not really being given room to say "yes" either."
Then I asked:

"Is there proof that god actually accepts your love?", and I was told people don't have a direct way to prove god accepts their love....that there's no way to know. Also, " I'd say that there is no "proof" ".

So, if you worship not from fear but love, and giving someone endless love without permission is stalking & illegal, and you have no proof that your god even wants your love (can't say neither "yes" or "no")......should you be arrested? Or at the least, realize that worship gets you through the same life as those that don't?

My GF is from Buenos Aires.

I'm wondering how I'd say "I'm horny" in her colloquial spanish. I understand it's an american slang (so a direct translation won't work), and I don't want to use Mexican spanish slang, since she's not a fan of Mexican spanish (she comes from an "Argentinean aristocracy" so she's a little full of herself, lol. God I love her.).

I've seen it stated quite a few times here and other places that only someone who had been filled with the Holy Spirit or has a true desire to serve God can truly understand the Bible. Atheists and other non-believers simply can't understand it because no one can understand it without God's help.

A man goes to the doctor with a long history of migraine headaches. When the doctor does his history and physical, he discovers that the poor guy has tried practically every therapy known to man for his migraines and STILL no improvement.

"Listen," says the doc, "I have migraines, too and the advice I'm going to give you isn't really anything I learned in medical school, but it's advice that I've gotten from my own experience. When I have a migraine, I go home, get in a nice hot bathtub, and soak for a while. Then I have my wife sponge me off with the hottest water I can stand, especially around the forehead. This helps a little. Then I get out of the tub, take her into the bedroom, and even if my head is killing me, I force myself to have sex with her. Almost always, the headache is immediately gone. Now, give it a try, and come back and see me in six weeks."

Six weeks later, the patient returns with a big grin. "Doc! I took your advice and it works! It REALLY WORKS! I've had migraines for 17 years and this is the FIRST time anyone has ever helped me!"

"Well," says the physician, "I'm glad I could help."

"By the way, Doc," the patient adds, "You have a REALLY nice house."
