When it was destroyed by Alexander the Great, why didn't it remain desolate as prophesied by Ezekiel?

Whats your preference? Romance, adventure, mystery, historical novels, non-fiction?

I have been reading for escapism lately, Sue Grafton books, Kinsey Millhone is my "grown up" Nancy Drew.

Also reading a lot of books about women's relationships set on islands or on the ocean for some reason, like "Up Island" Anne River Siddons, I seem to need to delve into the lives of other women facing challenges and change.

I have Wilbur Smith waiting for when I feel like a trip to Africa again. I really love his books.

And Joseph Wambaugh, Andrew Greeley and John Grisholm also waiting ..

Books I have read several times, The Source and The Covenant, James Michener

Wondering if anyone can suggest anything? My brother just came from Belarus (area suffered from Chernobyl disaster). He is a very talented hockey player. Unfortunately playing hockey at his level here, in the US, costs a lot. Does anyone has any idea what organization to contact to ask for help ? He is 13 now

Stuff like that! Where else could fill-ins help make the Bible EVEN BETTER?

whats so slutty about it? its a matter of social acceptability. in europe far more women do this, it's just what's acceptable. im not saying u should do this when youre at work but if youre in a more casual setting theres nothing wrong with it. people who think it's a classy vs. slutty issue are ones who are too afraid to have one hanging out bc they dont have the bodies to show it. altho i wouldnt mind looking anyway. lol

If you pick up random objects from dumpsters, trash cans, or off the side of the road (where people throw stuff away) or things that are just abandoned?

I'm just asking because of a running gag or inside joke. I'm basically talking about collecting random stuff for no reason other than to be funny. (Not exactily my idea, but that's beside the point...LOL)

When I go to church with my fiance and his catholic family I cant/dont participate in the eucharist because I am a non-catholic, but at the same time I don't kneel with the everyone either. Am I being disrespectful by not kneeling? If I dont participate in any other mass activities should I still participate in that one?

We all want people who come here to speak English, and we get annoyed when they do not. We get annoyed when considerations are given to them because they do not know English. What about our own people who do not take the time to spell check what is written or to speak in proper sentences? We all are guilty of this, myself included. With text messaging today and the shortcuts people take, how can we criticize someone for not learning English when we do not take the time to speak it properly ourselves. Your thoughts?
