I do agree with you...but on the other side of it...even in texting with the shortcuts and everything, at least we that speak English can understand one another. "Text" is becoming a language in and of itself of sorts. But I think that we should take pride in learning (and teaching) and using our language properly. I try to just that. But hey idk wat my bff wud say 2 that... ;-)

Well, there's a difference. I agree completely with you and I think it is good that people speak correctly but... Americans KNOW how to speak correct English to such a point that they make dialects and slang because they're so comfortable using it, whereas non native speakers speak with accents because of ignorance( not trying to be offensive) and because they simply don't know how to do it right.
Besides, you should see people in other countries. For example: Spain has endless variations and the slang varies sometimes from village to village!
So don't be so hard on people. Look at it not as a failure to speak the language correctly, but as a way to make it more comfortable and efficient( with text messaging it saves time).

Well we Americans are mostly lazy and do not feel like taking the time to do something so unnessesary since we can abbrieviate words and still have the same meaning of the word. If it matters so much then you may as well ignore it because not everyone cares what others think. I am not meaning this to sound disrespectful but I was raised to live with what we got and if you do not like what you have gotten then Oh Well because nobody is going to come and save you and make everything YOUR way... You need to make yourself heard... You need to scream and fight your way into the spotlight... I know for a fact that you will NOT make your way to the spotlight with that because its not nessecary... Mind your own business and I do not care that others do not know English. The British came on a ship so you can speak a different language and have the right to... If you are meaning this as a way of disrespect then you may as well just delete the question now... Im American! Try and deport me! I know you will never succeed because we all have rights and we are allowed to speak out and let our voice be heard!
And to answer your question:
With txt msgs we can do this bcuz u can understand us...
With a diff language we cant! can u understand this?:
¡Solamente tan muchos pueden entender esto!
What about this?:
Can u understand wat im sayin? I no u can but can u understand the Spanish?
