This raises an important issue. Over the centuries, many violent deeds have been done in the name of religion. People often wonder how this can be. It occurs when religion like Christian exits as a set of doctrines, ideas, rituals, and experience divorced from any deep and expansive sense of empathy or compassion. Without empathy, people’s religious ideas become yet another means of seeing others as “different” and distance oneself from other. Feeling disconnected in this way, people devalue others, like Christians and Muslim do to each other in the end leading to war. Driven by intolerance ideas and tendency to inflict their views on other.

Many Christians will clam they practice compassion and empathy but that is ludicrous. The doctrines of the bible are intolerant to other religion claiming that “any religion or people that don’t accept Christ as his savor will go to hell”. The backlash of this statement is significant since it reject other religion as false, which leads to intolerance and finally war.

What if you're christian? You're not allowed to! LOL! Hey, what do you do if you REALLY want to have sex but you're not married? WHAT!?! You SIN!?! Well what's the point in having a faith if you choose to sin anyway, your God isn't going to forgive you for that, and if he does, he'll have to forgive me for implying that I had gay sex with him and accused him of having AIDs.

If I am somwhere on a hot day and I get into the truck to drive home, would it be unpolite for me to take my shirt off. If I don't want to sweat in a shirt driving home, would it matter for me to go shirtless? I don't look bad shirtless, and I have the personality girls like.

Years ago you could really tell the religious women by how ugly they were. They wore no makeup, long dresses, a bun... and a face full of irritation! If a women came through the doors of a church with makeup on and pants, the other women would suck all the air out of the church and whisper "Jezebel!" It was crazy. Everything was a sin to them and the men weren't any better themselves, everything that went wrong in a man's life the women was the blame for that too.
It was so bad in the church when I was a child all the people seemed to talk about was what others shouldn't be doing and wearing. They were so focused on the small, insigificant details of the outward appearence that they forgot about the real life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Christianity stopped being about Jesus, the Person, and started being about judgment and public opinion.
1 Samuel 16:7
...for the LORD seeth not as a man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearence, but the LORD looketh on the heart"

Because Christians don't seem to think you are? What are your thoughts?

I asked a question earlier and most of the Christians make it sound like you guys aren't Christian. I know as well as most of you that if it wasn't for you guys there would be no Christianity as we know it. What are your thoughts ? And if you aren't Christians what are you?

I had more judgments made by people here about myself, all of whom have never met me; when I posted the question about athheists ragging on peope with a faith.

It only proves my point: ALL people are guilty of it. Not just people with a faith; and not just atheists! So how is one better than the other?

word for word what Jesus said and had said to him?

The Bible isn't like a history book that just tells stories of what happened, it has FULL CONVERSATIONS! how could they possibly know all of the conversations?

How could they possibly know what Jesus said to Judas?

Why do people treat these 'transcripts' as fact when they couldnt possibly be so?

I got nothing against gayy but alot of guys tend to think that... or at least they like to hit on me. It's fukt upp. I dont' give any indication i'm gay and yet they come flowin. Like for instance i'd be talking to a guyy and tell him about how all my relationships with girls get fukt up and i can't stand any girl i've ever met and they'd interpret that as me sayin i'm gay and start like... doinn shiit. it's always awkward. Ya sure i'm sick of girls but doens't mean i like guys anymore than i ever had. I'm pretty sure if anything right now i'm asexual, i got no preferance either way. Girls are outta their minds and guys piss me off.

I think maybe it's cause i go to the weight room alone alot (alot of guys see that i workout alone and assume i'm gay for some reason) and i wear stylish clothing... but so what? I look good in them.

Another thing... where does the gay accent come from? i've always wondered.

What are the differences in beliefs and practices of traditional Baptists versus traditional Church of Christ? If possible, do you know any scripture supporting or rejecting these beliefs/practices? Any insight would be very helpful, even if it is compared/contrasted to other Christian denominations. If you have personal experiences, I would also be interested in that. Thank you!

My fiance is Baptist, I am Catholic, we decided to each pick books that explain our beliefs so that we can understand the other's faith before we get married since we are both staying in our respective religions. I need to find a good book that explains the basic practices and beliefs of Catholicism that is a little more accesible than the catechism. I don't know any offhand. I would obviously read them first, but can anyone give me any suggestions to start with. I don't want them to be preachy or to sound like they are criticizing other faiths or trying to convert because that is not what I want to do, I just want it to explain.
