Because Christians don't seem to think you are? What are your thoughts?

I asked a question earlier and most of the Christians make it sound like you guys aren't Christian. I know as well as most of you that if it wasn't for you guys there would be no Christianity as we know it. What are your thoughts ? And if you aren't Christians what are you?

Hey I know you all are catholic, I just think it's dumb that other denominations don't recognize you at Christians. They single you out like you are the black sheep of the Christian faith.

Yes, Catholics are Christians and anyone who says we are not is mistaken. Not only are we Christian, but Catholicism was the original Christian church, and all other denominations branched off from it.

From what I understand, the reason why SOME (not all) Christians do not consider Catholics "Christian", is because the Catholic faith has politics to it (ex. going through the priest for forgiveness instead of praying directly to God, salvation through works instead of faith, etc) and the history of the Catholic church prohibiting the Bible to be translated into German so the people could read it, thus the church could make up whatever they wanted because no one could read the book. Also, I believe there was the issue of making the people pay money for forgiveness for sins (indulgences?). I found this information on Wikipedia and other sites.

There are several differences. However, the most important thing is that we all believe the Jesus dies on the cross for our sins and we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of denomination.

I'm not quite sure about the comment about "if it wasn't for Catholics" because the lineage actually started with Jews in Jeruselum. The Catholics came from Rome, from what I remember. Good question, though! It's definitely something to be discussed and quite a hot topic! Have a great day and good luck with your answers! :)

Yes, Catholics have Christian doctrine, they are part of the Christian faith.
I was raised Catholic, I am no longer Catholic though, because I do not agree with most of their teachings.
They were not the first Christian faith as they would have you believe. They were the first 'organized' Christian faith.
Peter was not the first pope, Emperor Constantine, made Christianity the official religion of Rome around 314 A.D., later it would become the Catholic Church as we know it today. Over two hundred years after the death of Peter.

I do not judge Catholics, though, because it is not my place, I love all people no matter where they are in their beliefs.

Yes, I am a born again Christian who accepts Jesus Christ as by Lord and Savior.

Actually most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 A.D., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

With love in Christ.

Yes I certainly do consider myself a Christian, after all anyone who knows the history of Christianity would have to acknowledge that without us, it is likely Christianity would not have survived. The only reason people would say otherwise is due to centuries of anti-Catholicism, which at one time were somewhat justified but now have become simply an act of stubbornness.

The definition of Christian is roughly "someone who believes that Jesus was/is the Messiah." That would include Catholics. Many assume that because we don't spend loads of time running from the devil or reading the Bible that we're not true Christians.

Au contraire. As you so eloquently point out, Catholics are the O.G. Christians.

Christian basically just means "follower of Jesus Christ."

Catholics fit that description better than anyone because their church was started by Jesus himself.

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it.

Also, the Catholics follow ALL of the teachings of Jesus and his apostles because they have preserved the sacred oral teachings and traditions over the centuries.

2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold to the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word (oral), or our epistle (scripture).

Catholics also frequently receive the very body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus in the Eucharist. It doesn't get much more personal than that.

So yes, Catholics are Christians. In fact, we are the original Christians, and I am proud to be Catholic.

Yes they consider themselevs Christians. I don't know why people go around judgeing others. Why do they determine who is and who is not Christian? Catholics believe they are Christians so yes they are Christians.
