I've never understood why Christians use the Bible as a point for argument, particularly when the one they are arguing with does not accept the Bible as valid. I have seen so many postings by Christians that quote amply from scripture, as though this is supposed to cause a light to go on in the heart of an Atheist. I think that they expect an Atheist to accept as a basis for logical argument their own stance, which is belief because "the Bible says so." I have, in fact, seen many Christians use those very words, that they believe a certain thing(particularly when it comes to homosexuality and bisexuality) simply because "the Bible says so." Christians, please realize something: we Atheists don't believe the Bible, so when you quote--none too eloquently--from it, it means nothing to us. Yet this same tactic is used over & over again. Jack finds it quite trying to his nerves.

Can anyone explain(without quoting from the Bible) why Christians constantly do this?

I see so many of you asking and say one thing about one church or another. As for myself - I have attended Jewish Temples in Los Angeles and over in Isreal when I was a Yonger Jewish Girl. When I became a Christian - I went to Baptist (Spirit Filled), Penocostal, Charismatic and now I attend a Church that calls itself - Showers of Blessings - and, it is! When I look for a Church - I look for a Pastor/Teacher that teaches as close as He is able to the Word of God - and, I DO Prefer KJV! I find 'That' version to be the close to all that I have found and studied in the Holy Land.

Be At Peace. Accept God's Grace.

Take Care and God Bless!

The mistake made by christians when debating evolution vs. creationism is that they assume that scientists have not sincerely and earnestly considered any evidence showing that evolution might be a weak theory and that creation is more plausible.

99% of scientists feel that evolution is true and they HAVE taken in consideration the claims of creationists.

these people are scientist for a living, for christ's sake.
This is what they do.
this is their trade.
how can you feel that you have seen all the evidence you need to see that evolution is junk science, while these people have devoted their entire lives to studying these things and will testify that it is perverse to say that evolution simply does not exist?
could it be that you don't really know that much about the complex of subjects of microbiology and macrobiology and you are basically just taking the word of other people who are affirming what you want to hear?

Ok, so you die and go to heaven. Then let's say that when you get there, everybody is there. Buddist, Muslims, Taoist, Tribal Primitive Religious people, Hindus, and Atheist. God is there, welcoming you in. Now, everybody is there, are you happy everybody is there? Do you care that it didn't matter or are you happy for everybody?

I know, you don't believe the other people are going to make it, but that's not my question, answer my question. Thanks.

I'm a Christian with a rooted faith, so I can't be swayed. But I would like to hear from all those who absolutely deny God's existance and why. Here's your chance to really voice your opinions and beliefs!

Even though I'm gay, I still have a close relationship with god. I mean why does people keep telling me that I cant be a christain and be gay also? People make me feel like a lump of nothing mistaken waste of matter on this planet. I just dont see how I can stop having feelings for guys, the feelings are too trong. One time I even tried taking so medication that will mess up my brain hoping it will knock it towards liking girls, but that didnt help. Every night I pray to god, I even talk to god during the day, but people act like I deserve to die.

I saw this show that took three unrelated people from different parts of the world and did a mitochondrial DNA test on them and came up with one common ancestress. Do you think this is confirmation that all nations came from one couple.....Adam and Eve? What say you? Hope my spelling is right!

The Bible ( which is writen by men) say God created everything. But often when I am listening people speak they say that God did not creat other religions. That there is only one religion, and it is which ever one they believe. Isn't that a contradiction?

How about there is one religion. And it is bigger than any of us can ever precieve, and all our religions are the arms, legs, feet, heart of its whole.

Any other ideas? Or definate reasoning to explain why other religions are not part of Everything?

My mother is an athiest. She brought me up to think for myself about religion, philosophy and the cosmos. I feel lucky to have been raised in such an open-minded environment. Although I started out "denying the existence of God" as a child, my willingness and openness to seek answers from everywhere and anywhere has led me to become the person I call myself today: A free thinker. I understand the purpose of God. I understand why people feel it is important to bring God into their lives, and share their experience with others. But I often wonder how much of what they believe is truly THEIR belief, or more the influence of others while they were young and impressionable.

If you were raised in a religious environment, do you believe you had a choice in what you believed? Do you feel you were at all "coerced" by parents, friends, mentors or siblings? Did you ever seek answers from unbiased sources?
