Since atheists have to abide by rules of the society they live in, does it bother them that most of these rules are set by politicians who represent Christianity, at least in the U.S.? Since they reject the Christian rules that guide most of us in daily life, it leaves them to only live by rules that the politicians make in society. How disturbing this must be to them to have their life guided by the politician of the day. Perhaps they should work harder to find an atheist presidential candidate so they can have rules they believe in guide their lives.

Atheists lack belief in any gods. That's it. So your question, I'm afraid, makes no sense.

Are theists being naive to place all their faith on rules to live by on their people who claimed some kind of deity revealed to them?

Just because theists believe in the tooth fairy is no reason to come up with this silly idea about atheists.
