I'm 14, and my mother is Catholic and my step-dad just never talks about it, and neither of them inforced a religion on me and for that I am thankful, because I got to search around for whats right for me. I'm kind of between Aithiest and Agnostic. I want to stay open minded about religions but somehow I just cant make myself belive in things like walking on water and all that magical stuff that needs a lot of faith to rely on. I'm more of a person who just belives in "having morals" and thats good enough, but lately I feel a bit empty because I don't have a religion. I really just want to believe in something but as hard as I try, I just can't.

Are there any religions or something that dosen't rely so much on things that are scientifically impossible but moreso just about being a good person and believeing in "good thigns happen to good people"?

I've been reading all those hatred questions between Atheists and religious people, what is your problem with each other? Why don't we know when to give up and let everyone live their life?

Suppose you came across/were shown proof of the deity of another religion. Let's also suppose you ruled out mental illness or delusion since that's a lame answer. Would this affect you? If so, how? Would you just change your internal beliefs, or would you become active about your beliefs (not necessarily by trying to convert others). I'm also curious as to whether more theists would /change/ their religion, or more nontheists would care/find it relevant/whatever. Also... what if you had evidence of the existence of a being/beings that you didn't morally agree with? Would you change your morality (even if only to a slight degree) or oppose the being(s) you now knew existed?

i mean...who ordered u to use the cross and Jesus as statues to worship and ask for forgiveness?
i do not think Jesus has taken the Cross as a symbol in his life, as he was still alive..... no crosses yet at that time

i am a muslim.... and we have in our religion a very important rule: what the prophet ordered us to do we do, and what he banned us from doing, we must not do. anything was invented in religion after his death is called "bedaa" which will lead to hell.

in quran we have a verse says what means :Jesus said: who is my supporters for Allah (God)? and the followers said: we are the supporters for Allah, we believe in him and we are muslims, Our god we believe in what u brought down to us ( Bible and previous books) and we followed the messenger (Jesus) ...

You know what if I generalize Christians, I'm going to generalize everyone to make it fair.

Atheists are here to point out the flaws in Christianity, from the book you base your life on, to the character of God, to the scientific evidence that refutes Noah's Ark, and a young universe.

Science doesn't have all the answers, but some things have to be settled. Evolution is true, it's just the fine details that can be disputed, being gay is not a choice, and abotions are legal for many good reasons.

There are hundreds of contradictions in the Bible, and many errors.

When it comes down to it though it's mostly the ignorance behind any type of outside the box thinking that coincides often with religion.

I have, with a very open mind, looked at many sides of the coin and can easily decide that the Bible and everythign represents is way off.

I can support this claim with a lot of evidence, but I see this evidence get swept under the carpet everyday on here, but still.....

I just notice that the Gay , Bisexual, and Transgender topics are all clumped into one. I want to know why this is. Im straight as i need to be, but it just made me confused. Aren't those very different subjects? I can understand Gay and Bisexual being together (though that may tell you something about my thught process) but Transgender seemed a stretch.

I do. Some people believe in the Bible but do not think every story should be taken literally. I disagree.

I am not atheist but I absolutely do not believe in the God described by Christians ,muslims ,or jews, I just think there is something , whatever you want to call it bigger than us . I do volunteer work in Africa and many places where my fellow human being needs help,I do sincerely try to improve the life of others but I do not get involved in any religion ,I just do not believe in any of them, especially when they try to convince me to CONVERT OR GOD WILL SEND ME TO BURN IN HELL, that really inflames me more than anything else. My questions is to the religious people here, (and please do not preach , no verses from the bible, use your own words), I have been told I need to practice this or that religion to be spared eternity in turture, the famous hell you seem to like to talk about. If I anybody does such a thing out of fear it is not a sincere conversion anyway . Can you explain to me why would your God punish me just because I do not practice your religion but I am ,and really try hard to be the best human being I can? It does not make any sense that a person has to be punished or rewarded based on what religion he believed in, that is absurd, what kind of demented God do you portray to worship?
