Many millennia ago a buncha lazy scammers figured out that the easiest way to scam the fellas in neighbouring tribes was to tell them they talked to The Invisible Sky Chappie who told them stuff that the illiterates had no idea about but would pay good money to find out.
Hence The Holy Roman Catholic Crutch and The Sting of the Millennia.

According to the Bible, there are two reasons why humans created god. And remember, this is what God Himself said about it.
1. They were stubborn. In spite of what God had done for them, they still wanted gods of stone, wood, etc.
2. They were greedy and selfish.
I might as well add here, that today, many people want to get rid of God because they think that they themselves are gods. This is probably a third reason why people are currently creating gods.

Early primitive people created our God Concept and made themselves the middleman. In the early days it was God, the King and the Priests and then the people, in that order.
