I just notice that the Gay , Bisexual, and Transgender topics are all clumped into one. I want to know why this is. Im straight as i need to be, but it just made me confused. Aren't those very different subjects? I can understand Gay and Bisexual being together (though that may tell you something about my thught process) but Transgender seemed a stretch.

Transgender is included because during the transition at some point the person is viewed as gay. A FTM who will be straight when finished is seen by society as a lesbian in the beginning and a MTF who will be straight when finished will be seen by society as gay in the beginning. Plus 25% of a transgendered people will be homosexual when they finish the transition.
ALSO, we discriminated people need to stand together to help support each other

Why do you ask if you're straight? Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transsexual are all oppressed groups and if you took a minute to think about it, the discrimination for all these groups is based in one form or another by the straight public at large on sexuality even if not necessarily on orientation...and because people like you do not understand the difference between gender issues and orientation.
Guess what, transsexuals often get a double whammy of orientation and gender discrimination.
The fit may not be perfect, but are you suggesting we transsexuals just go away????

Actually (and I know this is an unpopular view), I agree with you...it IS a stretch.

Unless the transgendered people are *also* gay, lesbian or Bi, what do they have in common with the rest of us? Only that they're a persecuted minority too....but if we're going to use that as a reason, why not include ALL persecuted minorities?

I'm a transsexual lesbian; I have nothing in common with transvestites and drag queens --I have nothing AGAINST them, I have some among my friends (and they're *good* friends), but neither I, nor they, would consider that the issues that affect me also affect them in any significant way.

(MacGor; the question was about 'transgender' people, not transsexual people. They're not the same thing.)

What do mean by "straight as I need to be..."?
Do you feel the need to be "straight", or just the desire?
Me thinks you're in this forum for ulterior motives.

Diane L...your response to Macgor is an excellent example of how we in the GLBT community fight amongst ourselves.
Macgor has a right to be angry.....you have a right to your opinion. An outsider comes in...stirs the pot...and all of us start bickering amongst ourselves. WE ARE ALL PART OF ONE COMMUNITY...the GLBT community. If you let them pull us apart....we'll crumble and fail!
Don't let them poke us to-death.
Macgor....Diane L...you two please make up..LOL.
I love you all...-Vinny.

Why do you have to decide who goes together and who does not? And what is 'straight as I need to be' mean?

This section is for anyone who isn't just "plain old straight".
