Hey all got a strange problem going on here. I recently found out I have terminal cancer. I thought it would be helpfull if I did my funeral arrangements now that way my family won't have to do it later, I found a casket and tombstone I really like the design/color etc and got the spot in the cemetary next to my parents. Now the problem is my wife and my brothers all don;t like the casket I picked out it's bronze colored with a fishing scene on the inside of the lid, showing a lone fisherman fly casting into a stream and under the picture is the verse from the bible that says "come with me and I shall make you fishers of men" and the stone I picked is black marble with the same thing on it along with my name and the dates. Everyone here knows I'm a lifelong fisherman. My wife and brothers say I should go with a plain coffin and stone since thats more traditional. Do you all see any problem with my choices for the coffin and stone?

I'd been doing some voluntary office work for my church whilst I was unemployed (I'm pleased to say I'm now in paid work). I volunteered 2 days a week, which included working over the Xmas period and didn't get paid for travel. When it was my day again to go in to do my 'stint', I saw lots of people including all the volunteers too had Xmas cards and so I wondered where mine were. My christian 'boss' told me, "I suppose your Xmas cards will be lying around somewhere" and that was that. I didn't get one! I looked around, but couldn't see them. I thought this was quite rude. What do you think?

I have got addicted to the religion and spirituality section. I know this is a waste of time for me. But I could not stop. I think that the time I spend here could be used for something better. How can I stop this? It is just like being addicted to opium

I was told that according to Hebrew legend, the first woman God created
as a companion for the Adam was a strong-willed lady
named Lilith. (See Graves and Patai's Hebrew Myths and Reuther's
Womanguides.) As both had been created from dust, Lilith considered
herself equal to Adam. (They differed anatomically, of course,
with the Bible referring to a male as one who 'pisseth against
the wall' [1 Sam. 25:34; 1 Kings 14:10; 21:21].) Lilith objected
to having to lie beneath Adam during sexual intercourse, but Adam
would have it no other way. Lilith up and left him, winding up
in rabbinic tradition as a baby-killing demoness who seduces sleeping
men. Lilith is mentioned in Isa. 34:14, though the KJV renders
lilith as 'screech owl.' This first wife of Adam may safely be
called the world's first uppity woman.

Are all strong willed women daughters of Lilith ?

I don't believe in aliens, but I'm starting to maybe belive that they could possibly exist, after watching too many TV Shows on such things..... what can I say, my hub's on deployment.

Anyways, I live next to a heavily secured millitary base, where you have to have a security clearance to get into parts of it, even if you're in the millitary. I keep hearing weird humming noises that change in pitch, (my hubby did too before he left) and said that it could be comming from the base, but he never heard it when he was on the base himself. Maybe I'm paranoid becauses I'm alone and everything, but you know people accuse the government of covering up such things all the time.

That, and I live in an area where low flying planes are constantly flying overhead. The DOT enacted a law so that planes aren't supposed to fly over after 7PM, but recently they have. WHen I called to report it, the lady seemed wierded out, as if there wasn't supposed to be a plane in the area. Now I'm used to it.

How can such dribble be so serious? Why not believe that there are gods and goddeses? Makes for a more balanced power of creation.

I wanted to clear the ambiguities I have and hence solidify my understanding about the following:

The first five books of the Old testament are supposed to have been revealed upon Moses and are known as the Law of Moses. What about the rest of the Old Testament books? What is the exact Jewish view of those? Were they revealed upon some other prophet by God or were they penned by man?

Secondly, in Christianity, it is acknowledged that the Hebrew Bible (OT) was revealed before Jesus. In the New Testament (which were accounts of Jesus by followers), is there a part of the Bible that is supposed to have been REVEALED to Jesus by God or is it all penned by the followers of Jesus?

Thirdly, what exactly is the division of Jewish Scriptures; the Torah is the 1st five books of the Old Testament, what about the rest?

Thank you for your patience.

Does God live in Heaven or does He also live among us ?Jesus said that He and His Father and The Holly Spirit shall live at home with us , if we a fatefull to him .So, don't you think , it results He is also a real Father , who pays us a visit , not only the Master and the Emperor.... ?Anyway I think the reason why He asks us to call Him ,- Father is that He really is a Father and Mother to us.What do you think?
